All hotels there try to fool you by giving an ordinary room at a higher tariff meant for special rooms. Be careful. Be careful about booking.com website. They don't have any customer care center number or chatbot. They leave you at the mercy of the hotel.be careful about booking on this site. However it looks like all these aggregators are the same - whether hotel or airlines or tourism websites. They are fully looting us and the government is turning a blind eye to our exploitation 😭

Mavalli is a quiet and pleasant place with helpful locals.

Mavalli is a quiet and pleasant place with helpful locals. If you are staying away from the temple premises, autos are available for convenient transportation. The main attraction there is the Murdeshwar temple. Visitors often come to see this temple and then take day trips to nearby places like Honnavar or Jog Falls. It is even possible to visit these places and return the same day to Gokarna, as Mavalli to Gokarna is approximately 78-83 km by road or train, taking about 1 to 1.5 hours of travel time. This makes Mavalli a good base for exploring the region while enjoying its peaceful environment.

TEMPLE OR CITY AUTHORITIES SHOULD TAKE CARE OF CLEANLINESS OF TEMPLE AND SURROUNDINGS, MOST OF THE PEOPLES SPITTING ON ALL THE PLACES, VERY DISGUSTING TO WALK IN THE BARE FOOT, PROPER PARKING SPACE NEEDED, STRONG FOUL SMELL AROUND THE TEMPLE, MAY BE THE REASON OF FISHING LAND.

Not too crowded. Temple is nearby. Parts of beach are crowded and some are completely with nobody around. Lots of mediocre eateries are near the beach. The Kamat restaurant on the beach is not clean. Food is Ok though. Parking may not be available all the time near the temple complex. Beach sport activities like snorkelling, SCUBA on netrani island were not available due to official rainy season...BUT nobody told me this before.

In my view, it functions more as a picnic spot than a religious temple, lacking historical or devotional significance. It serves as an ideal destination for a day trip, allowing visitors to appreciate the remarkable structure, enjoy a beautiful beach, and partake in some leisure activities. The evening, with its pleasant weather, is particularly suitable for relishing the sunset. During our visit, we opted to dine at Kamath INN, conveniently located on the route to the statue. However, it's worth noting that the place tends to be excessively crowded on holidays.

Planned to visit murdeshwar temple for 1 day.

Planned to visit murdeshwar temple for 1 day. Reached by train at 4am. Had enough time for the temple, beach, etc. Has many good options for food and accommodation. Checked out by the 5 pm train same day.
