The hotel was in a great location for visiting Matera also close to the city of Altamura. The room was comfortable, the bed comfortable and the breakfast very good. The staff were very helpful.

This was our second stay at Hotel Nicola. Our first stay, several years ago, was wonderful - hence our return. This trip, we noted ongoing improvements in the property. The staff was exceedingly welcoming and helpful, and we enjoyed our interaction with them. One staff member consistently went out of his way to help with our car and explain how our access to the ZTL worked. Erik, at the front desk, was a font of helpful knowledge about the area and gave us suggestions regarding navigation and areas to explore. The breakfast was varied and exceeded what would be regarded as "typical," both in quality and quantity. And, of course, Altamura is beautiful and the Centro is exceedingly walkable.

Muralta is a great place to stay, clean, comfortable, with a perfect location, however, the best thing about Muralta are the hosts. They are very friendly, open to help and give you recommendations. Onofrio, one of the hosts, was extremely kind in giving me several recommendations about restaurants not only in Altamura, but also about the next cities I was going to visit. Thanks guys, I had the best stay ever.

Maria and Angela and Susha were wonderful! They made us feel comfortable and welcome. Even though we arrived very late, Maria was on hand to greet us and made check in easy. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The food made by Angela was all fresh homemade and exceeded our expectations. She took time to tell us about each item and shared how it was made. Both she and Maria spent time talking to us and telling us about themselves and DonnaPaola. Maria is an artist and while you are there, be sure to look for her sculptures. The rooms also have her work as part of the decorations. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The views are stunning. It is peaceful and quiet. We will be sure to come back and stay longer.

Beautiful, modern within, yet maintains its medieval heritage and beauty from the outside. It’s a quiet neighbourhood. The BnB is in an excellent location right behind the Duomo- the centre of town. Walk everywhere. Many restaurants and bars nearby. Angelo the owner offers “over and above” service. He makes sure that you are comfortable and have everything you need. He communicates through WhatsApp. I am grateful that Angelo made himself available to pick me up upon arrival at the train station as well as drop me off at the end. Each room is unique in his house. My unit was on the third floor, had an excellent air conditioning and mini fridge. I enjoyed my stay very much.

Altamura is a very vibrant town with a great culture, nice...

Altamura is a very vibrant town with a great culture, nice warm people, great food. Place to visit when in town is the Cathedral of Altamura, the historic center with their intricates narrows cobble streets, the many restaurants and antic forni that makes exceptional bread and focacce. Not to forget the near by town of Gravina, Matera with the mitical site of Sassi. Altamura is a town that will remain in your heart for all the things that I mentioned but mostly for the beauty of the town.

Altamura is a charming and authentic , full of history, beautiful stone streets, and a warm atmosphere. We were lucky to visit during the bread festival, when the city truly came alive — children playing drums, performers throwing flags, and celebrations filled with gratitude and tradition brought incredible energy to the old town. Together with the small cafés, local bakeries, and the scent of fresh bread in the streets, it felt like a truly special experience of southern Italy. And definitely try the local dessert called Tette delle Monache — light, delicate, and absolutely unforgettable.

We love Altamura and its people.

We love Altamura and its people. My grandparents came from here and it feels like home. The culture and rhythm of this city truly reflects Italian Life! It is not overpopulated with tourists. Definitely worth coming to if you want to feel relaxed and be a part of Italian life!

Beautiful old town with typical cafes in the cathedral...

Beautiful old town with typical cafes in the cathedral square and lots of verdant courtyards and narrow alleys all built of shining white limestone. Excellent museum very close to the old town with an exceptional anthropological section. Most places were a short walk from our accomodation including an excellent restaurant. Driving was a nightmare because of the manic one-way systems and flashing orange traffic lights.

Altamura is place full of life.

Altamura is place full of life. Every evening people of all ages are out enjoying a stroll or an aperitivo. It is very lively, suitable for families travelling with older teenagers who are usually bored in the evenings. Food is amazing. It is also very conveniently placed between Bari (beautiful bigger city with an old town, beautiful promenade and lots of shops ) and Matera , the so-called stone city, the oldest city in Italy, a must-see.

Very quaint city.

Very quaint city. Took tour of Caseificio Di Cecco and Panifico Di Gesu and loved it very much.Had supper at Baby Di Cecco for wine and cheese tasting at the Mercadente Forest- Yum! Old city is beautiful.Had lunch at oldest bakery- notice Forno Santa Caterina and it was great ! should visit!

Nice appartment in the center of the town. The roof terase was great!! The owner has very helpful - shared all information about the town, interesting places, restaurants, Altamura bread... Breakfast could be better - coffee + 1 croissant. But we would come again anyway :)

Easy to find and easy check-in. Good and quiet location close to old center and parking on the street outside the building. The apartment is modern and spacious with two balconies. Clean. Italian breakfast with cornetto and espresso/cappuccino at a nearby pasticceria.
