A vibrant, picturesque Italian city, not just for tourists.

A vibrant, picturesque Italian city, not just for tourists. There aren't many places to buy fresh fish and seafood these days; in Gaeta it's easy. The beach is a bit far, but not too far. Bus service to Fromia is excellent, but along the coast toward Sperlonga, buses are scarce.

My favorite spot besides our bed and breakfast was the Golden Chapel. We also found the quaint shops in the back alleys to be very nice for purchasing unique Gaeta items to help us remember our wonderful stay. The walk down the main street allowed us to choose from several different restaurants. We loved the delicious muscles and Tiella unique to Gaeta. Our walk along the sidewalk in front of the harbor was quiet and relaxing as we watched the sailboats come in.

Even in January, Gaeta was a stunning place! We just wish we'd had more time to spend there and experience its park, seafront, and other natural areas...and eat more delicious meals at Via Roma 18, zona Serapo!

Gaeta is an ancient city with plenty of history to discover.

Gaeta is an ancient city with plenty of history to discover. A weekend may suffice to enjoy the local attractions and taste the typical cuisine, which excels with seafood. In summertime, the place gets very busy and expensive due to the fabulous beaches, especially Serapo Beach. However, in mid-seasons and even during winter, it is worth a visit if one is interested in less-known destinations.

During my visit to Gaeta, I was truly impressed by several places in this charming coastal town. I especially loved walking along the seaside promenade and the beautiful avenue of plane trees—it was very relaxing and scenic. The old town with its colorful streets and historic buildings was also a highlight. For a quick bite or a casual meal, there are plenty of great options. I particularly enjoyed the local cafés and restaurants where you can try fresh seafood and traditional Italian dishes. There are also small grocery stores nearby if you prefer to grab something on the go. Getting around Gaeta is quite easy. The town is compact, so most places can be reached on foot, and it’s very pleasant to explore the streets at a leisurely pace. For families with young children, I would highly recommend visiting the beaches, which are clean and safe. A walk along the promenade or a visit to the Spanish Fortress on Monte Orlando is also fun and manageable with kids. The town has a relaxed atmosphere, making it perfect for families to enjoy both sightseeing and leisure time together.

Gaeta is a lovely beach town that sits half between Rome and Naples. The beach is flat white sand and superb for swimmers of all ages. Crystal clear waters awaits you. Gaeta is split in two. The old town near the Port and the newer town on Serapo Beach. Its a perfect place for a summer holiday

The Gajeta Hotel offers a convenient location right across from the military harbor on the beach road, nestled between the city center and the old town. We traveled to Gaeta to see the Luminarie, and the location of the apartment is simply perfect—just a few minutes from City Hall and the main beaches. The area is full of restaurants and picturesque corners, as well as a pharmacy, local market, and supermarkets. The apartment is gorgeous, very well equipped, and beautifully furnished—perfect even for a longer stay. Check-in and check-out were seamless, and Giulia provided us with all the necessary information both before and during our stay.

The house is very nice, spotless, and recently refurbished. It’s in a perfect central location, right in the heart of old Gaeta, just steps away from restaurants and shops. The owner, Letizia, is so kind and friendly. She prepared a lovely breakfast with local products that made us feel truly welcome. We will definitely come back and happily recommend this place to our friends and family.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, the outdoor pool in particular is stunning and surrounded by beautiful trees and plants, giving it a sub-tropical feel to it. The rooms are clean and well designed and the hotel itself is very well presented and maintained.
