We chose Lucignano for our stay because we had visited Tuscany before and wanted the experience of a smaller village. It turned out to be the perfect solution to the busyness of Tuscany. The apartment was excellent. High-end fixtures, lots of space, a very comfortable bed, and chairs in the living room we wanted to bring home. The kitchen was compact and very practical, we loved how we could hide it away behind folding doors. The AC was top notch - given our other experiences on our trip this one was so great - not loud and perfectly controlled. We think that the designer had a lighting background because the lighting was sooooo good! If you’re looking for an extremely comfortable (and affordable!) stay away from the hustle that you can come home to and sink into luxury with a lovely bottle of wine this is your spot! Special note - the villagers were very welcoming and over our 3 day stay, we felt at home.

The place is awesome. It's very clean and comfortable. The owners are very nice and helpful. The supper we had at the hotel restaurant was very good and tasty.

The Castello del Calcione was the perfect spot to not only explore Tuscany and the surrounding areas but also to rest and relax! The whole staff were amazing - Julia and Miko helped us check-in and check-out, even carrying our luggage and Selvaggia and Yass made us feel real welcomed, giving us tips on which restaurants to eat at in nearby Lucignano and even activities to do, like swimming in the nearby lake or the pool on the grounds. Zoe and the rest of the team were great at the horse riding lessons and would like to thank Tabea for helping us book the wine tasting. One of the nicest “staff” though are the dogs - they’re really friendly and will even guide you around the grounds. If you book here, you have to have a meal by the chef - food was simple yet delicious! The room itself was super roomy and clean and the breakfast was really tasty! I highly recommend booking here and look forward to staying again!

The rooms were really comfortable with a great bathroom. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and were so generous giving us lots of dishes to try - for free. The restaurant and bar facilities were terrific and great value.

Wow, where to start - the hospitality provided by Amanda and Malvin was second to none. From the spectacular and never-the-same lovingly prepared breakfast each day to the raw beauty of the location and views of the surrounding hills, every day impressed. We got around fairly easily by car and the farm was centrally located so that we stayed 5 days and visited many interesting places from there, generally an hour away or less. The small kitchen outbuilding for guest use was appreciated, and we were able to cook dinner our last night there. We had 2 connecting apartments which provided 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which suited our travel group very well. And there was free wifi which worked perfectly. Highly recommended!
