FAQs about hotels in Palermo

A Symbol of Sicily

Edgy and eclectic, Palermo is a symbol of all that Sicily stands for. From buzzing Vespas to the bustling Vucciria market, it simply brims with life.

Wonderful Palermo Cathedral glows radiantly in the Mediterranean sun. Nearby is the city’s last Sicilian Puppet Theater, and across the street is a palm-filled park housing Roman mosaics, though the best are in the archeological museum. At one end is the Norman Palace, a government building home to the fabulous Cappella Palatina, whose gold mosaics are absolutely breathtaking.

Equally magnificent are the gold mosaics lining the 12th-century Monreale Cathedral on the city’s outskirts. Wander the cloisters and note the varying columns and capitals – each pair is different.

Palermo also has fascinating churches: 2 of the oldest are 12th-century San Giovanni degli Eremeti and San Cataldo, each with red, Islamic-style domes. Gesú Church has an incredible Sicilian Baroque interior, while La Martorana’s frescoes are awe-inspiring. A street away is Quattro Canti, an intersection with a fountain in each corner.

Other attractions include the round Teatro Massimo, Mondello beach and Monte Pellegrino mountain overlooking the sea. You get fabulous views of this picnic spot as you fly into Palermo Airport before heading to your Booking.com accommodations.

City is really alive, there are a lot of tourists, markets, restaurants, music… I would recomend to visit Cefalu and Corleone (its not far away, around 1 hour). You have to visit Cathedral, Teatro Massimo and buy ticket for tour because it is worthy!

We have heard people complaining about the town not being nice, just noisy and beaches run down with the lack of facilities. But this is Sicily. it's supposed to be messy, dirty, chaotic. That's why we love it and keep coming back. If you are after quiet, polished and organised holiday, choose something else.

Honestly speaking if you've been to any remote Islands, this is something totally different. If you are expecting Malta or Greece Islands, don't. Palermo is skippable in my opinion. Go visit Taormina, Messina and similar. Palermo is cheaper a bit but still nothing specific to see. If you are renting a car. Prepare and get iron nerves.

Palermo although noisy and too much garbage in some areas it was a vibrant city with so many wonderful churches and a wonderful Monastry and cathedral and castle - people were friendly just the Sunshine or Moonlit hostel wasn't a good place to stay even though the hosts were great! The beaches at Mondello were great and eco park too!

I love Palermo, it does not pretend anything, it's alive and authentic. My mum has been living in Palermo for 25 yeats so I know the city very well. One thing I'm sorry for is, how little value has pedestrian or disabled person in Palerno, with cars in many cases completely blocking bus stops, sidewalks crossings. It seems to me that the majority have accepted this status quo and they want it like that. For me it is just part of life there but I know some people who are less physically capable or partially imobile and they go through immense struggle and dangerous situation navigating the city.

Probably the best apartment my family and I stayed at in Sicily! Stayed here for 3 nights in total. Rosina's flat was such a great size and so well equipped, from complementary treats and coffee to some washing up liquid for clothes washing if needed. Kitchen also well equipped and adequate space for us to cook dinner and enjoy it in the apartment. Great location too, 15 minutes walk in a straight line and you are in the old town of palermo.

A brilliantly run boutique hotel, tucked away just off the main streets of the historical heart of Palermo. The rooms are a delightful mix of the old and the modern, making them eclectic without being pretentious, and still having all the mod-cons without losing the charm of the old world. They made our stay in Palermo super easy and convenient and we would not hesitate to come back again in a heartbeat.

Centrally located and yet peaceful boutique hotel in heart of Palermo’s nightlife. The room was very nicely furnished and had a good sized bathroom. There was a small balcony over the street. Cristina was really helpful and allowed us to drop our bag early and also made us up an early breakfast (we had an early flight). The full breakfast looked like a really nice banquet.
