Wonderful Stay at Hotel Teocrito I had an incredibly pleasant stay and would happily return. The staff were welcoming from the moment I arrived. The location is good—just a short walk to the Archaeologic Park. Finding the property and getting inside was a little tricky at first. Once inside, everything was smooth. My room was large, and comfortable, with a small balcony. They had originally told me there wouldn’t be breakfast, but to my surprise they provided a generous breakfast.

A tremendous find! We absolutely loved our stay here and the staff were incredible - friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect - walking distance to both the train station and Ortigia. Our room was enormous and beautiful and we loved the Ortigia bath products. The breakfast and evening snack selection was excellent and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. A must stay in Siracusa!

Hotel is beautiful, breakfast is wow, really great, staff is very nice, they know how to take care. Spa area is very nice, Ms. Chiara gave me a very nice facial. They have a garden, so if you eat there for dinner, you will be able to enjoy pumpkins, eggplants, herbs, tomatoes etc. directly from this garden. Two pools: one for swimmers, one for kids. Everything is clean, they use sheets on the bed, very comfy good beds.

FAQs about hotels in Syracuse

The Very Best of Greece and Rome

A goldmine of Greek and Roman heritage, Siracusa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the Necropolis of Pantalica in hills to the north-west.

Siracusa itself has a necropolis within the amazing Neapolis archaeological park, which also houses Roman amphitheatre and altar remains, as well as one of the largest Greek theatres ever built. Legend has it that the site includes the tomb of Archimedes, who was born here.

The ancient Greeks founded the city (also known as Syracuse) and Cicero even considered it the greatest of all. Columns from that period were used to build the Baroque cathedral, and the Fountain of Arethusa dates to the same era. Both are within Ortygia, a walled peninsula jutting into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Also here are ruins of the Roman temple of Apollo, and at the tip of the peninsula is the 13th-century Maniace Castle.

The fabulous Siracusa Archaeological Museum houses relics from all these periods, and is located by the Catacombs of Saint John. Opposite them both is the modern conical spire of the Madonna delle Lacrime Sanctuary church.

Aside from all this history, Siracusa also has plenty of pavement cafes and restaurants, and lovely sandy beaches overlooked by luxury hotels, cheap B&Bs and holiday homes available on Booking.com.

We have been to Siracusa quite a few times.

We have been to Siracusa quite a few times. The fact that the town is almost some 3 000 years old is in itself impressing, but there is also an antique atmosphere. We like snorkeling, and on the opposite side of Ortigia from the marina, it is rocky and quite clear water. We will return again!

Very beautiful and so clean! Every corner a picture. We loved getting lost in the small streets! We loved the local delicacies, especially the caponata and the carpaccio of fish with fruits! We savored the granitas ( too many!) and enjoyed a short boat tour around the island and the caves! We even managed to use the local shuttle bus for our short outings. It is a very colorful and happy place! Strongly recommended!

Very nice old town with a relaxed atmosphere, not too bothering tourist vibe, feeling quite safe. A bit pricy food. Interesting bathing spots - clean azure waters, but more on the rocky side. Cathedral, Aretusa, Ortigia streets, but also Madonna delle Lacrime were worth visiting. Neapolis ruins definitely a must see.

To visit Siracusa and Ortigia, 3 days are about right. The greek and Roman theatres are a must and so is the archeological museum. Ortigia is lovely with lots to see. Do take a ride on the Ape city tours , they're fun. The Sicilian food is great with greta fish dishes. gelatos wherever you look!! In my opinion the market is overated and pretty small.

Ancient property gently restored to highest specification in historic centre. Comfortable bed, good mattress, soft pillows and very powerful shower. The room very spacious and quiet at night. First place we found while travelling through Sicily which was restored to modern standards and sparkling clean with heater/ air condition. Wish we could stay longer in beautiful Siracusa - so far most fabulous place in Sicily.

We had a room with a balcony overlooking the sea, beautiful!! Good breakfast, host parks your car, hosts made dinner and taxi reservations all of which we greatly appreciated. This facility was one of the highlights of our two week vacation in Sicily. It is at the end of a short dead end street so we wondered if we had found it but saw the sign for the hotel and were very happy.

We were very well supported by the host, Marcello, and made to feel very welcome. The property is on the Ortigia island, in the heart of the historical city, close to markets, with a view. The property is modern and well supplied. There are good restaurants around. The Sicilian salad at Salumeria Fratelli Burgio was the best we had in Sicily.

In our two week trip to Italy, we visited 5 cities (Rome + 4 cities in Sicily), and Allegrakori was the best apartment we stayed in by far. Spacious, clean, light, tasteful, well equipped, and in a fantastic and charming location. I wish we had stayed longer. Equally, Ortigia was a highlight of our trip. Full of charm.

The flat is not so far from city center. Breakfast was prepared in the flat, everything was available. Fantastic owners (Donatella and her husband) helped us with restaurants, recommended what to visit in Syracuse. Best accommodation on Sicily during our stay.
