Excellent staff. The person at the reception is awesome! Place is super clean. The locallity is amazing. Comfortable and cozy place. The common areas and bathroom are exceptionally clean. Everyone has enough bathrooms even though shared bathroom place. Facilities they are provide are very good. I will definitely recommend everyone choose this place if you get a chance. Especially if family of 4 then get the family room. Very close to public transportation.

I love the hospitality and warm welcome of the staff. They accommodated us well, although we arrived late, and assisted us with all our concerns since it was our first time in Japan. We will stay there again if we can travel back to Aizuwakamatsu.

A very quiet town, some attractions to see, and there are also shops that can do shopping. There are not many tourists staying in this city at the time we visited in first week of March, maybe peak season is a different view. We liked this town with it's traditional building from the old times, not a city view like Sendai, we have dinner at a local tonkatsu (Japanese cutlet made from pork), we were served at the 2nd floor, that I really feel like I'm eating in the comic book scene. though sitting on the floor is not easy for me and my husband, we have to extend the legs sometimes. It's recommended to have a slow walk around the city, try the local cuisines, the dishes change as per seasons, we tried quite a few different fermented fishes that we don't know, but they are all good with sweet flavour, not on the salty side. Mostly importantly is the Japanese sweets, mochi and cakes are all delicious.

There is more than meets the eye in this city.

There is more than meets the eye in this city. Online guidebooks/tourist information is limited. Many of the sightseeing spots are spread out, so you need time to go from spot to spot. There are some of places not featured well in guidebooks that are still worth seeing, so plan a little extra time when you go!

Its not that easy to get around, if you are not driving. mainly by bus or walking, but there's not a lot of tourists, so its quiet and nice. There's a crafter centre- Akabeko Crafter Bansho, which is great for kids and rainy day activity. The kids get to paint a akabeko of their choice (there are different sizes). We didn't get to go around much as it was raining, but the Tsuruga castle was beautiful even then and we would love to go back next time in spring.

Aizu Wakamatsu has a lot of interesting history.

Aizu Wakamatsu has a lot of interesting history. You can visit the castle, botanical gardens and Sazaedo. There is a national park close by so renting a car and exploring the countryside is highly recommended. A trip down to Ouchijuku and a foot spa along the way takes half a day and it takes a day to travel on the Skyline to Azumakofuji, a volcano which sometimes omits gasses, so the road maybe closed. One or two days is definitely not enough to discover this amazing area.

Aizu is a perfect spot for a 2-3 day trip. I liked particularly the castle, which is just gorgeous now in winter. And I bet it is beautiful also in other seasons as well. On top of that I enjoyed other attractions too.

This is a great place, and all the sites are in a roughly 10 kilometer circle from the station. I put my suitcase in a locker at the station for the day, then rented a bicycle for ¥500 from a shop 800 meters from the station. (Turn right at the street in front of the station. The shop is on the left 800 meters down.) I realized later that there is a tourist bus that stops at all the sites and has a running commentary on where you are. That would have been more practical for me. The bus costs ¥600 yen for a day pass, which can be bought at the bus station in front of the train station.

The hotel had incredible onsens that we enjoyed thoroughly! Despite the staff not speaking any English we felt taken care of and enjoyed our time here. Everyone was friendly, and we loved the remote-feeling of being in nature. You definitely need a car to get around to go explore the rest of Aizuwakamatsu but it's not a problem as they have ample parking near the hotel. They also really helped with getting our luggage sent over to our next hotel (ta-q-bin service), and we appreciated it so much.

While the area is a bit remote, there is a bus stop 100m away from the hotel. The staff didn't speak English too well, but always had a lot of patience with me, so using translation apps made things easier. They will go above and beyond to make sure you get what you need. While the private onsen was sadly booked out, I did enjoy my lovely river and mountain view. Breakfast and dinner were absolutely amazing, with tons of food choices!

The dinner and breakfast buffet was great, with many different options. The hotel is a bit far up into the mountain, so I recommend having a car to get there. The onsen was great after spending the day exploring the area. However, be aware that you can’t use the onsen if you have tattoos.

The location was convenient because it is near the station, but the actual area with more restaurants is a 15 minute walk from there. The hotel was really nice and the room was clean, with all the amenities! I liked the window shutter made to keep the cold out

Very nice new hotel. Good location and has everything you need. Curtains by the beds and small lamps would make it perfect. It would also be nice to swap paper cups and plates for real ones. 😁
