Great onsen spa and amenities (crystal clear water, tile covered “lounge chairs” in the water, shaving supplies and ice cream for afterwards). Cold plunge pools and a sauna in addition to outdoor and indoor hot pools. Free ramen after 9pm that made for a tasty meal. Also great small restaurants across the street and down a short block. Great value, nice and helpful staff. We have visited 6 onsen hotels on this trip. This was the least traditional as we did not have to remove shoes when entering our room but overall this was the best!!

I like its location, just walking distance from Asahikawa Station and lots of restaurants and kombinis nearby. The receptionists were kind and very helpful. I was surprised that the room was kinda big for a solo traveller like me and everything was so clean. There is a variety of food on their free breakfast too, so delicious

This is a private residence, so you're really sharing the space with the hosts in the truest sense. The house is very lived in and has character. Lots of clown decorations though. The hosts were very accomodating. My room didn't have black out curtains so it got bright very early, so they immediately switched me to another room. There were no other guests so I basically had the whole floor to myself. The location of the house is pretty good for seeing the lavender and flower fields in Biei/Furano (half hour-ish), and the drive to Soundkyo and Asahidake took longer but was alright too. The house is a bit tucked away from the road. You have to cross a little bridge and then drive down a small private road a bit. The kitchen area is pretty sparce so prepare to live off of convenience store food. Also, no washing maschine. The room with the two windows has a prettier view, but might get hotter in the summer time.

The location of the hotel we stay and the surroundings are what we liked the most. We can do the activities we like here. It is so convenient that we can also park our car. There are many good things to do here. We play a few rounds of golf. We have good food in many good restaurants with reasonable prices and also good shopping of Golf items here. We plan to come back again for golfing, shopping and enjoying good food here.

Asahikawa feels much more comfortable and relaxed compared to larger tourist cities. It is not overly crowded, but still has everything we needed, including big shopping malls, many restaurants, and convenient facilities. It feels like more than just a stopover city and is worth staying for a few days to explore.

I visited in winter mainly to ski.

I visited in winter mainly to ski. The city has made a lovely effort in lighting up streets in the centre of town at night with pretty lights. The skifield at Kamui Ski Links where I skied is nice, good facilities, all well looked after and lovely varied runs. There is a ski bus running up there starting from by the railway station. There are several other skifields in the region easily accessible for a day. The zoo is amazing! It’s a great place to see some of the wildlife species from the local region that would be pretty difficult to see for yourself in the wild. Also very interesting is the privately owned museum of the indigenous Ainu culture. Those local people of hundreds of years ago did very well to look after themselves in the hard climate of Hokkaido, the museum has many objects from their typical everyday life showing how they managed. There are plenty of good cafe and restaurant options in town. The shrine Kamikawa-jinji is a beautiful building in a peaceful forested spot less than a half hour walk from the station. There are beautiful shrines to visit which look inviting but I didn’t have time for them all.

Zoo is a must go for the march of the Penguins.

Zoo is a must go for the march of the Penguins. Good base to travel to Furano and Biei for the other attractions. Some good local food - I wouldn't spend more than a few days there in Winter unless you're hitting the nearby slopes specifically - even then there's better slopes in rest of Hokkaido.

This was my second winter trip to Asahikawa.

This was my second winter trip to Asahikawa. I really enjoy what it had to offer. Besides the snow festival, there’s free skating, XC skiing, snow shoeing, tubing near the station. The zoo and its penguin walk were so cool. Skiing at Kamui was wonderful (easy bus access). I plan to come back.

Good price for a private room with all utilities included. Really close to Asahikawa Station, so it’s super convenient for catching trains or buses to Sapporo and around Asahikawa. Also very close to Aeon Mall for shopping and affordable food options. The room had a great view overlooking the station and Aeon Mall. The staff was also very friendly and supportive.

A hotel situated above a café, where the aroma of coffee greets you the moment you step inside. The room was quite spacious and was cleaned daily for continuous stays. Free parking is available across the hotel. Self check-in was a breeze, and the staff were helpful when we asked to borrow kitchen utensils to cut a melon.
