We booked a standard queen and were pleasantly surprised by the room’s spaciousness and layout—the photos do not do it justice and make it seem darker than it is. The location was ideal for us, an easy maximum 15 minute walk through an interesting area and close to several sites and many restaurants. The room was extremely clean and the beds comfortable. There is clear attention to detail. Although there was some construction next door, there was no noise. The happy hour with free drinks and the later complimentary light meal was a bonus. What made the hotel special was the staff, from reception to cleaners. Everyone was so polite and helpful. They were able to answer any questions, explain clearly, and their command of English more than made up for my inadequate Japanese. They made a very good experience an excellent one.

Hamamatsu is a small industrial city located about halfway between Kyoto and Tokyo. It has a number of industrial tourism sites - Suzuki Plaza, esp., and music-related sites - Yamaha Innovation Road and the Musical Instrument Museum. There are a number of Jazz- and Classical-music festivals in the fall, and that is a good time to visit. Lake Hamana is beautiful, and there are a number of interesting temples, shrines, and historical sites like the small but beautiful Hamamatsu Castle. Mostly ignored by Western tourists, but easy to get around, it's charm is in one's ability to visit Japan as it is for those who live there.

Before checking in ,in Grand Mercure Hotel,me& my family got the chance to visit the Flower Park near the hotel.The view ( diff.flowers )was great& stress free.The cool & good weather & nature refreshes us.We we’re able to ride in a boat 🛥️ for an amount of¥700 per head & it was fun.Went to the roof top of the tower . This travel was really a memorable trip,wishing we could stay longer to visit other places.

We booked two rooms, the front desk is nice, and they have four car parks at the back door, arrival earlier can book these car parks. The room size is OK, but my room's toilet has a poor smell, I need to go to another room for the toilet, but it looks quite clean. Have no idea about this smell. The front desk is very nice and friendly.

I was here for work, so I did not have time for visiting properly, but I have been here several times, so I know it a bit. There is not much to see, as it is a small town, compared to Tokyo, Osaka or Sendai, but it has its positive aspects. Located between Tokyo and Kyoto, it is a good starting point for visiting these cities, as well as Nagoya, Shizuoka, or the Izu peninsula. It is famous for being the hometown of Yamaha and Suzuki, and you can visit the Museum of Musical Instruments as well as the Suzuki museum, an unexpectedly interesting spot. It is the centre for the production of eels (unagi) and you can taste them deliciously prepared. Good restaurants, not of the fine dining type, though, but good average quality and price Not to miss: Tir-na-nog, the Baird Brewery Beer House

Very close to the Hamamatsu shinkansen station. This hotel was a nice cheaper option that's still closer to Nagoya where the hotels are quite expensive. The locals were very helpful with helping us with directions and were even interested in having conversation while trying their best to speak English.

Walking distance to Hamamatsu Station around 10 mins walking(depends on the way you walk slow or fast, im pretty slow so yeah 😅) Its seems old building but the hotel really good with the maintenance. They serve free flow drinks from 3pm-10pm. Mad respect to the staff at check in counter, he try his best to communicate with me in English. Overall I would like to stay to this hotel again if I'm going to Hamamatsu area. Thank you so much!

Helpful staff, amazing in communication. A nice staff called a retail shop to ask some questions for us in Japanese and translated. Healthy and various breakfast options. Fresh juice, fruit and salad, pastries, milk and cereals, eel rice (famous dish in Mamahatsu)
