Absolutely loved Karuizawa. We went for shopping, good food and snowboarding!Wanted a local Japanese stay that was a easy 10 minute walk from station. This was it, place was huge and had good review after searching using only google maps! Family friendly, exceptional staff and huge place that easily fits 10 adults if you make use of 2 beds, sofa bed and tatami mat/room. Whole family loved the place.

The staff, amenities, food and service were excellent. It was our first visit and it exceeded our expectations! It would have been helpful to know that there was a hotel shuttle from the train station to the resort. I don’t believe that was mentioned in the information received from our booking.

We liked the friendliness of the bilingual staff. We also enjoyed the cuisine at dinner and breakfast. I am a vegetarian but eat eggs, cheese and dash including fish sauce - the chef was able to accommodate my diet requirements.

The area around Karuizawa station is not very pleasant but I...

The area around Karuizawa station is not very pleasant but I would definitely recommend walking to and staying in Kyukaruizawa a short distance away. There are lots of restaurants and individual shops. If we had been staying longer, we would have travelled to see more of the Alps area which looked lovely

This was my second trip to Karuizawa.

This was my second trip to Karuizawa. The first time we did not have a car and it was expensive to catch taxis and the buses were not regular and it took a lot of time to get around. With a car you can really see a lot of the surrounding beautiful houses and forest.

A very cute ski town.

A very cute ski town. We did not have a car but toured around using Fufu Karuizawa's electric bicycles and also via taxi. We visited the Old Ginza Street which was filled with adorable eateries and shops. We then headed down to the Prince Shopping Plaza for some great finds! Our two nights did not allow for too much more sightseeing beyond that, but it was enough to get a good feel of the town. Amazingly the buildings / homes colour ordinance is that of muted browns, greys and blacks. The McDonald's is charcoal grey with a light grey 'M'! Really pretty. I was very inspired by the surroundings and interiors for my own property back home.

Karuizawa is our perfect place in Japan.

Karuizawa is our perfect place in Japan. Everytime we are in Tokyo, or near Tokyo, we make sure we stay at least a night here. Just walking along the old Nakasendo street is perfect for us. An old quiet town with the calmest vibe. Definitely, we will be back.

Quiet, residential location. But very close to the station and centre of the town. Large, comfortable rooms. Large bathrooms with plentiful hot water. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Japanese breakfast was plentiful and excellent. Breakfast service staff were also excellent. Very convenient for the Wild Bird Sanctuary via Buses H or O. Takes 25 minutes (bus-stop 5 minutes from the hotel). Hotel garden and surrounding area pretty good for birding too.

Our room was very large, new and had all the right facilities, kitchen etc. I really liked the onsen of the hotel, and the breakfast was excellent. Snooker table was a cool addition. Staff was super kind and helpful. 15 min. drive from a ski park, 20 min. from Karuizawa city center.
