This hotel is located in a small village just outside Kampot. Walking is not an option but scooters and laundry services are available at the resort. Rooms are very large, cool and clean. Bed was bit firm. The owners’ family is extremely helpful and friendly. Rainy season had just started and we didn’t want to ride the bumpy dirt road after dark, so we had our dinners at the spacious lounge area. It’s like a home room with opportunity to meet other guests. Authentic and tasty Cambodian food comes from the family’s own kitchen. Drinks and cocktails are also available at a reasonable price. You can enjoy quiet evenings here with a countryside feel.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this stay really deserves one. I booked this place based on what people said about the owner, Pascal—and honestly, every single review was spot on. He’s incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful without ever feeling over the top. From the moment I arrived, everything just felt easy and comfortable. You can tell he truly cares about his guests, not just running a business. It’s rare to come across hosts like this, and it really made the whole experience that much better. If you’re staying in Kampot, I’d definitely recommend this place.

We stayed over the weekend, as Kampot is always one of our favourite getaway destinations. This time, we chose Chateau Kampot because it is a new and visually appealing property. From the outside, the colonial-style building stands out beautifully, and once inside, it offers a warm, nostalgic atmosphere. We booked a Deluxe Room, which turned out to be very spacious—much better than we expected. The bed was incredibly comfortable; the moment we lay down, we completely relaxed. The bathroom was also spacious, though the hot water took about two minutes to warm up. The staff were truly the highlight of our stay—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Breakfast was good and sufficient for us, though it could benefit from a wider variety of options.

Kampot is a hidden gem, as they say.

Kampot is a hidden gem, as they say. Staying in town, close to the river, was an excellent choice. The mountains ringing the town are absolutely beautiful, and the trip up to BoTree Pepper Plantation is well worth it. On the way back, take in the salt fields along the flat side of town. Plenty of restaurants and vantage points to choose from along the river at night. If you are vegan, there are plenty of cafes cooking great vegan food.

Kampot is one of the cities where many expats live in...

Kampot is one of the cities where many expats live in Cambodia. I myself personally like Kampot, it's not as busy as Phnom Penh. But it has changed a lot now, especially along the blocks of riverside. Many businesses are owned or run by foreigners, and they are filled with foreign patronage.

It is a charming place to visit.

It is a charming place to visit. The waterfront would be so much more attractive if they cleaned it. The amount of litter in the water near the Seahorse fountain is unbelievable for a tourist spot. Other parts of the city were typical for an Asian city with street vendors doing their best to keep tidy. Food was good and getting around was easy. Nearby Kep was also a treat as a half-day get-away.

If going to Cambodia try and get to Kampot. This place is lovely - a real relaxed atmosphere and lots of things to see and do around the area. It lights up like a Christmas tree at night - there are pop up restaurants on the beach, lights everywhere and a water show. Lots of places to eat. Lovely river and walkway. Highly recommend this place.

We adore Kampot!

We adore Kampot! Small city that is family friendly and full of hidden gems. The riverside beach is fantastic in the evening and the water/light show was impressive. There are good and inexpensive restaurants, spas and river cruises. Many options for day trips around like pepper farms, wellness retreats, and the mangrove restoration village.

Lovely, lively and authentic.

Lovely, lively and authentic. Reminds me of Chaing Mai in Thailand. Some great restaurants and coffee shops. The market is great and no one is pushy and up for a haggle. I really enjoyed my time and look forward to returning.

This place is amazing. The private pool felt like such a luxury and we even had our breakfast in front of it on our last day. The team are so helpful. We thought that the boat shuttle into town would have scheduled times, but you just go to reception and ask them when you're ready to go and they take you straight away. We felt like film stars! We loved being away from the hustle and bustle of Kampot town. It's around $1 for a Grab back to the hotel from there! Our favourite hotel of our entire Cambodia trip.

Very clean room, garden and pool. Ease of booking. Gardens and pool area maintained very well. Room AC very effective. Wifi very good. A Grab tuk tuk to town / riverside is just over $1 and are plentiful. Very pleasant balcony overlooking the pool with nice table and chairs. A quiet hotel. Very restful sleep with almost blackout curtains. I was granted a free early check in and 3pm checkout but clearly this depends on how busy the hotel is. A well managed premises.

Wow wow wow! If I could rate Riverfront Boutique 100/10 I would. It is the most beautiful setting and the most lovely vibe. Ben and his family really go above and beyond to make you feel at home. The food is great, as was the tour of kep and the kampot coutryside I booked through the hotel. So amazing to watch the sunrise over the river and swim straight from your room! Loved it.

Very comfortable hotel, well appointed room and well located for those that like to kayak on the beach and creek. Restaurant staff were fabulous and Reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast was sumptuous. The property itself is about 20-min away from the main town, ensuring you're away from the hustle bustle of the city while being in arm's reach whenever needed.

Set away from the town, the hotel offers a peaceful surrounds, clean, confortable and sizable rooms with a really nice wet room. In particular the staff were so friendly and courteous. A special shout out for Moniroth who was so kind and attentive.
