It's not a luxury accommodation, but for the price it exceeded our expectations. Clean and comfortable rooms, welcoming staff, good location in town. Even though there are no tea/coffee facilities in rooms, the hot water, coffee and assorted teas are available downstairs all day long.

Outside of the skiing season there is always accomodation...

Outside of the skiing season there is always accomodation available and Geilo offers all the facilities and amenities needed for a spring, summer or autumn trip. Most importantly it is very central for visiting the fjords, the mountains, the hardanger vidda, some beautiful farming valleys, multidudinous waterfalls, etc. etc. There is some fabulous walking/hiking in the vicinity. The road infrastructure is excellent (beware road closures in winter) and you can even get there from either Bergen or Oslo by train. You can do the famous Norway in a Nutshell tour from Geilo starting and finishing by train, although this summer because of the current timings of the fjord portion of the tour, it is not possible to complete it in a day and get back to Geilo.

Geilo is stunning!!

Geilo is stunning!! Brilliant ski resort to take our kids for their first ski trip. Pistes were excellent, good selection of greens, blues and reds. Staff were friendly, ski instructors fantastic! Definitely recommended. The train journey in was a bonus!

Geilo is a ski town.

Geilo is a ski town. Skiing in Norway is more affordable than the United States and less crowded. Unlike many ski towns that I have been in, Geilo was pretty dead once the slopes were closed. There is no public transit within the city limits. Taxis are infrequent and expensive. If you stay for a few days, a car is recommended. We took the bus from Oslo to Geilo and the train from Geilo to Bergen. It is spectacularly beautiful and the young people working at the ski resorts were very cool. There is a nice international vibe.

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment last weekend.

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment last weekend. The owner lady was incredibly kind and responsible, making sure everything was perfect for our arrival. Parking was hassle-free, which was a great relief. The apartment itself was exactly as described: clean, beautifully designed, and very quiet. It provided a peaceful retreat after our long trip and busy days of skiing. The sauna was a fantastic addition, offering much-needed relaxation and warmth. Overall, we highly recommend this apartment for anyone looking for a comfortable and serene place to stay. We will definitely consider returning in the future!

The downhill skiing is great for a party of mixed ability -...

The downhill skiing is great for a party of mixed ability - you were never too far apart to meet up again. Nice variety of runs in Geiloheisen side. Less variety of runs in Geilolia but every run a great one. Being able to also set off on lots of varied XC ski trails is also a good selling point. There are a couple of good sized supermarkets in the town.

Geilo was a great location for the particular activities we...

Geilo was a great location for the particular activities we planned. There are shops in the event you left an important piece of equipment or clothing at home. Other than that, there is one public laundry facility located at a camp site....LONG LINES OF CLOTHES .....would take 5 hours to eventually wash your own clothes.

Communication with the host was excellent – quick and helpful. The cabin itself was stunning, with a fantastic layout that made it feel both spacious and cozy. The outdoor area was a real highlight, with a large terrace, lovely views, and a relaxing jacuzzi – perfect for enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The location was ideal for exploring Geilo.. The resort is fantastically located right at the bottom of the slopes, offers very nice design and a typical 'nordic resort' experience. The breakfast was fantastic, the hotel offers numerous options (bowling, spa, fitness center, indoor playground, bar, cafe) to spend the time beyond skiing.

It was a wonderful place. In a quiet area, felt peaceful. We prefer this than the busy vestlia hotel. The space was perfect with a great bus service to the vestlia. Although the bus can get very busy and frustrating.
