It is a beautiful walkable town.

It is a beautiful walkable town. It has a group of shops that are discount clothes homewares and pharmaceutical. It has an old interesting castle with tunnels underneath. We did the paid tours for both and the history was really interesting. Obviously Auschwitz-Birkenau are a must. We did a tour but it felt rushed so maybe a self guided tour would have been better for a better experience. We also missed out on the museum just a short walk up the road which I would have loved to see. Unfortunately all my pics are on my phone and I’m reviewing on my iPad and no link

We stayed in Oświęcim to visit Auschwitz. The town is very nice but not interesting. However, I highly recommend visiting Auschwitz. Reading about the Nazis is one thing. Seeing and hearing, from a guide, the treatment of prisoners and imagining being there while walking through the buildings is another. This must be understood and not forgotten !

Auschwitz Museum have changed their entry policy and...

Auschwitz Museum have changed their entry policy and processes in 2026, sadly this may have a negative impact on Oswiecim. The Museum now seems to focus on tour buses and quick visit turn-arounds. Oswiecim is an interesting rural town that may become 'side-tracked'.

We were very happy that we chose to stay in Oswiecim rather...

We were very happy that we chose to stay in Oswiecim rather than just travelling there from Krakow. In addition to Auschwitz, we visited the Ospitzin Synagogue and museum (a very moving and informative memorial), toured the local murals, wandered around the older part of town, enjoyed the parks, and had a spectacular dinner at the Old Tree Villa and Restaurant.

The town is ok the local museum is mostly in Polish but the staff speak German and Russian and I was able to visit and talk in German. Most of the town was closed even though it was 2pm on a Tuesday. But Auschwitz was what I was there for very moving

Ok, we are not a young couple, I am 72 and my wife is 55 but...

Ok, we are not a young couple, I am 72 and my wife is 55 but we find the area safe, quiet and beautiful. Its a small slice of heaven. We walk everywhere and its a true joy. The Old Town is quaint and small and a 1 k walk from our unit, there are old buildings and forts nearby and a river and beautiful parklands there with a cafe and restaurants. Great cakeshops and cafes. You can walk safely all over, just look up Google maps for ideas. Its 60 to 90 mins on new electric trains to Krakow. Just look up our review on' New air conditioned unit Oswiecim' on this site.

I don’t know where to start. VERY CLEAN,COZY,COMFORTABLE. Great value for money. Water works, the balconies are humongous. I definitely recommend room 2 it was a huge balcony I had. Parking out front. And just right downstairs about 2 minutes on foot, if you search on google for restaurants for breakfast lunch and dinner. You will find that the top rated restaurants are just 2 minutes from you. I guess the location is in the really nice area of Oświęcim.

The hotel property is located not too far from the newly renovated train station. Also less than 30 minute walk to the Auschwitz museum . Taxis and local buses go there too. Also it is easy to travel by local bus to the main tourist old town square of Oswiecim . There are local convenience shops and a good polish restaurant near to the train station. But this restaurant closes by early evening. Also at least 2 good kebab places nearby too.

The hotel is a nice modern building, with ample space in the room. A desk is always appreciated. I travelled during a heatwave and the air conditioning worked perfectly leaving the room cool and comfortable. Good flow from the shower.
