Completely walkable, charming and with a rich history!
Completely walkable, charming and with a rich history! Watch the youtube travel videos before visiting so you know what to look for and photograph! We only had one evening and should have made more time here. Small old town square was just lovely! A welcome and cozy space compared to the overwhelming crowds and tourist groups of our other sites on our trip. We were 15 minutes away from Ksiaz Castle!

Swidnica itself did not catch my eye; I was surprised the Tourist Info could not reference me to Anna Swidnicka, the celebrated wife of Charles IV (14th century). But the city is an excellent hub for nearby locations: Ksiaz complex & Palm House, Sowie Gory, the pilgrim location of Sleza giving the name to the whole region. Many pittoresque Spa towns (any Zdroj), and the nearby Czech borderline...

Everybody should read “the Bloodlands” by Timothy Snider.
Everybody should read “the Bloodlands” by Timothy Snider. Once you read this book, or know your history, you will better understand a town like this, which once was clearly wealthy and part of Germany, and is now recovering in a Poland that is on the right way. It is a small and quaint town with beautiful old buildings, some still awaiting repair. There is a nice park and many restaurants, none of which I tried. As usual in ex-communist towns you will find social housing in the outskirts, some of them recent and fairly nice.

Swidnica is a great base if you want to explore the mountains along the Polish-Czech borders, but it's also a very interesting town (pop. 57,000) in its own right. It has easy-going, friendly people and everything you might need in terms of food and shopping (even its own shopping centre). It's easy and pleasant to walk around. For lunch, I would recommend the "No sugar" bistro on 1 Basztowa Street.

A beautiful city with heritage landmarks, a significant cathedral, lots of history. Well maintained parks, great taxi services. The city square is a pleasant place to walk, shop, and sit outside in the cafes. Still have local farmers bringing in fresh produce on the square. Amazing. 90 minutes to major ski resort Szklarska, which is beautiful in summer.

A beautiful hotel with oodles of charm.
The welcome and service were warm and friendly. I was treated like a guest and not just a customer.
The bar was cosy, I had an excellent bottle of local craft brewed beer (apparently a one man brewery to an original German recipe),
The continental style breakfast uses good quality ingredients.
Peaceful rural setting, but only 6km to Swidnica for restaurants etc.

Very beautiful area, outstanding service and very clean. Staff was very kind and respectful. Choice of breakfast was great and delicious. We will definitely return some day and we recommend staying in this hotel.

The decor and culture of the hotel is the best! Staff was very nice and the breakfast was great and it was very clean. Parking was convenient and free. This was my favorite hotel on our trip to Poland!
