The room was very nice and the hotel and restaurant were elegant. We had dinner and breakfast, and both were exceptionally good. The two men who ran the place did not speak English but still managed to convey the very most welcoming and helpful attitudes.

The breakfast was lovely with the typical fruits, baked goods, cereals, yogurts, sandwich meats, jiuce, milk, etc. in a very nice cafe. The room and all its amenities were well thought out. The stone decor is reminiscent of a historical castle but with new contruction. It is absolutely charming, including a common living room. The Babette restaurant was very nice as well. There is no charge for street parking. You just have to drive around the block to find some. The check in person even got in the car with us to show us places to park.

Room- spacious, bright, comfie bed, tasteful decor, stone wall in the room, spacious bathroom, lil balcony to our particular room The grounds are lovely- good sized pool. Lemon trees everywhere. Every morning you awake to roosters crowing , dogs barking and birds tweeting. Sunrise is beautiful ! We were given a lil tour of their personal veggie garden, chicken coop etc. breakfast was in a nice room: scrambled eggs if wanted made from their eggs, buns, ham, cheese, fruits, yogurts, juice, coffee , tea. 8:30-10am The host was super friendly,helpful and kind.

Barcelos view lodge was an exceptional experience, the facilities are very well maintained, clean and comfortable, close to everything in the city, close to the route of Camino portugues central. Cristina is the best about Barcelos view lodge, she helped me more than what I was expected . She make phone calls for me because my internet service wasn’t working properly for my next reservation, but overall, she helped me to find my backpack that I accidentally sent to another hotel. She in person went to pick it up. She was my angel on earth. I can’t say enough about her service.

Barcelos is a great city to spend a day or 2 while doing the Camino or traveling in Portugal. The architecture and ruins are not to be missed. The variety of restaurants and shops were fun to explore.

A Very nice small city, lots to see and many good dining and shopping opportunities. We were lucky to be there during a festival, which provided non-stop entertainment for our two -day stay. Our favorite place in Portugal so far. (We are not big city people, found Lisboa and Porto vexing - crowds, noise, traffic). Barcelos manages to be interesting and charming without the negatives. Of course, some day it will over-populate and be as obnoxious as the other big cities.

Barcelos is one of many stunning towns and cities in Portugal, but by far my favorite. It is small enough to walk around, has some excellent old buildings, bridges, etc. Cafes, restaurants all provide excellent service, and the market on Thursdays is awesome to see.

This town is a car crash! - despite Unesco city of creativity. 1-2 hours plenty to look around the last remaining intact bits of town, apart from visiting on a Thursday when supposedly there is a market going on. So many other places to see in the area! Why waste your time?

We were there for Dance World Cup finals in Braga so didn't see a lot of Barcelos but surrounding areas very beautiful. Lots of stunning countryside covered in vineyards. Definitely would go back to explore more!

The city is beautiful and with a lot of monuments and churches to visit. It also had some pretty interesting shops in a central shopping area and some interesting looking restaurants. From traditional to hipster food- you can find everything there. The day I visited, the city had a huge market in the center, street food and entertainment. There were some traditional music concerts, traditional dancing, flower and light decorations all over... Very pretty. I was positively surprised by the mixture of historical and city-like vibes.

We received a warm welcome from Ana who was able to advise us about street parking. The apartment was stunning & very comfortable. A little more hangers for clothes would have been useful, but other than that it was fabulous. The breakfast in the cafe was delicious & everyone was friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Barcelos.

Nice room with comfy bed and temperature control. Great hot and strong shower. Nice decor and friendly staff. Lovely breakfast and nice walks along the river close by and just a quick jaunt over the bridge to Barcelos.
