Our stay at Retiro dos Biscoitos was so peaceful. The town of Biscoitos is the perfect location to travel throughout the island. We found that all the major sightseeing locations and the start of the island’s best hiking trails are easy to access by rental car. You can stay outside of the traffic of bigger cities like Angra and Praia while still being connected to everything the island has to offer. There are two grocery stores in walking distance of the house and an excellent bakery as well that we visited several times during our stay. The host was warm and left us local wine and bread for check-in, as well as marmalade made with their own oranges. The laundry machine and backyard was also great to have. Nearby houses have fruit trees, chickens, and dogs that were fun to watch. If you are looking for an authentic and high-quality stay on Terceira Island, this is a great place to stay.

It's a hidden gemstone in Terceira and I'm so happy we found it. The view is incredible, on the hill overlooking the sea. And it's so quiet! There's a supermarket in the village and cafes/restaurants, and the natural pools are very close. The place is spacious and very clean. The hosts live on the second floor but we barely saw them though they replied always very quickly to the messages and met us when we arrived. There's kitchen, washing machine, AC, TV, everything you might need. I enjoyed the place so much and would definitely come back! PS. Special treat was Carlos' and Carolina's cat that was hanging out with us as soon as she understood we love cats 😄 so that was the cherry on top:)

Super friendly and helpful host, clean and well maintained house with personal touch and pieces of family history. Our stay was short but we enjoyed it a lot!

The host is a singularly informative and warm person. Extremely hardworking and it shows in the property. The property itself is a wonderful place. Breakfast was great. And speaking as an American, the big pot of coffee was a nice surprise. One particular highlight was when the host cooked alcatra for us.

The best stay of my time in the Azores! It was the first time during my whole stay in the Azores that I felt like I was at home. It was so peaceful, the farm animals are charming, and the hosts are the most welcoming and kind people I've ever met. They don't speak English but are super proficient and efficient at using Google Translate, so there was no problem at all. The room was perfect and the bed was super comfortable. The hosts also offer a home-cooked lunch/dinner for an additional fee which was MORE than worth it. The dinner came with an appetizer, wine, entree, and a dessert, and the complimentary breakfast is pretty standard. There is a little hut on the premises that serves as the dining room, and it's super cozy and a great place to meet the other guests and chat with the hosts. Their dog is the absolute sweetest and I LOVED my time here.
