CanadaHotel is situated in a serene location. Our room was exceptionally clean, had all the amenities. Bed was firm with good support and had comfortable quality pillows (soft and firm). Staff made it feel very welcoming. We had the “family suite” with 2 twin bed and 1 queen bed that had a private terrace overlooking mountain valley. Hotel had souvenir shop on the outside.

PolandI booked it on very short notice as our flight was cancelled. We were just looking for some cheap, quiet place and found it here. The place is little remote even to village center. Definitely it is not super comfy holiday apartment but there were all what we needed for just one night.

PortugalWe really loved our stay at this hotel. The service was exceptionally personal and attentive, the room was spotless and perfectly equipped, and the location is right in the city center. The rooftop terrace offers a stunning panoramic view, and free parking in the building is a big plus.
A special thank you to Margarida, Sid, and Miguel for their outstanding hospitality. They even left fresh croissants every morning, and surprised my wife with a bottle of sparkling wine and a personal birthday note, which was incredibly thoughtful.

United StatesGreat Hotel, very clean staff very helpful and friendly! Really loved the breakfast included, I would say this was the best part. Many breakfast options, nice patio for outdoor seating. Staff offered excursions which I thought was an exceptional bonus. My room included a balcony with a nice view of sunrise. Very close to shops and mall, walkable distance which was another plus. I would recommend 10/10

Picturesque village with alot of history, sitting in the deep of the valley. Small traditional community which got is first road in 1958 and electricity in 1962 ? Walked up and down from Eira do Serrado to Curral in one day - amazed by the paths laid soo long ago which served the village in decades. Fell asleep nicely afterwards

Nice for hiking especially the short levada " poiso " way...
Nice for hiking especially the short levada " poiso " way back in the valley ( Faja dos Cardos ) + Terra cha , renember to walk from downstairs to up , that is steep + the road up to Miradouro, ( paved road is situated on your right side , 100 metres from the tunnel entrance on the road to the hotel Eira.
Negative : too many restaurant will deny you a " ticket / fatura " receipt. They avoid paying tax, you pay the tax and it goes direct down in the restaurants owners pocket.
Shops : The souvenier shop next to Ladeira da igreja too will not give you any recepit so you don't have any guarantee. Avoid this kind.

Uphill there is nice small bar/restourant of local food. You need cash there to pay. Good not expensive national food, especialy tasty local vine. Local people do not speak English, even in restourant, but friendly and warm. Very good place to stay for hiking,

I am not sure if it was at the hotel we contacted a vomitting virus but as soon as we got home we had it for several days. I guess this is very infectious and difficult to control

Curral das ferreiras is very quiet, peacefully and tourist friendly.Ideally if you want the quiet after a day from touring the Island . Definitely you need a car to travel to other places in the Island . We stayed there 3 nights of our holiday that was perfect.

Location was beautiful, in the quiet Curral das Freiras. The accommodation was very spacious, and the perfect get away, with great access to nearby hikes into the mountains, and spectacular views. It was comfy place to return, and relax, with great facilities to cook our food, and enjoy the area.
Also a huge thank you to the owners as I had lost my AirPods, and they kindly messaged me to let me know that they found them, and I was able to pick them up a few days later.
Overall a great place to stay, I highly recommend :)

The house is big and spatious, there are two terraces, it has a wonderful view over the valley, and it's in a very calm area. That is all worth driving up there to Curral das Freiras every day (around 25 mins from Funchal). It is also fully equipped, there's probably anything you might need. The owner is very kind and helpful she responds very fast. We would definitely come there again !

A beautiful house in one of the quietest little towns on Madeira. A perfect place for relaxation and enjoying the nature. (please note that Curral das Freiras, as beautiful as it is, may not be greatest choice of base for exploring all of Madeira, as it's sorrounded by mountains and only connected to Funchal to the south)
