Veľký Krtíš is a good place to stay and explore surrounding...

Veľký Krtíš is a good place to stay and explore surrounding towns. Modrý Kameň is worth visiting as there is a castle with some interesting exhibitions. Halič has a beautiful castle, which is now a hotel, with amazing surrounding area. It is quite difficult to get to Veľký Krtíš if you relying on public transport so my advise would be to either rent a car or drive your own one as it will be easier to get about and to explore. There is lots of places to eat out or to just go for coffee.
