Central City was an awesome place to visit.

Central City was an awesome place to visit. The town has a great mix of historic charm and beautiful mountain scenery. It was much more relaxed and less crowded than we expected, which made the whole trip very enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was friendly, and the area felt very safe and welcoming. Between the casinos, local shops, and easy access to Black Hawk, there was plenty to do without feeling overwhelmed. We had a great experience overall and would definitely come back.

A beautiful little town nestled in the Rocky Mountains.

A beautiful little town nestled in the Rocky Mountains. Gambling is fun but you can just walk down through the town, take in the feel of an old mining town. Kinda takes you back to the old west. Early 1900's, and taking in the fresh mountain air is something you'll never forget.

Small mountain ex-mining town completely taken over by the gambling industry--along with the town of Blackhawk just down the hill. Very tourist-oriented. Built onto a steep hill at over 8,000 ft. altitude--just be prepared for that kind of walking. I stayed the night because of value price at the hotel I patronized, and so didn't really take in the town. It's still about the same town as it has been and worth seeing for a day or two if you've not been there before. Plenty of food choices, both in and away from the multitude of casinos.
