It was a truly hospitable stay, thanks to the wonderful host. The space was so spacious that it felt too much for just the three of us, so next time, we’d love to visit with a family of friends! El Portal is a small town on the Merced river bank.

El Portal is a small town on the Merced river bank. It is very peaceful and quiet. I can imagine one can spend a lot of time exploring the Merced river here. I also found a lot of spots for having a picnic here.

The pools are great! The restaurant is AWFUL!

The pools are great! The restaurant is AWFUL! I'd rather eat my shoe than eat at that restaurant! The bar/grill are ok, certainly better than the restaurant, but that is speaking relatively... The store is very nice, offering a good variety of snacks and drinks. The location is very good, just a few miles away from the Yosemite entrance. The staff were friendly and responsive. The rooms were clean, and, thankfully, the AC worked well (it was 109 degrees when we were there!). The bathroom lights turned on automatically whenever someone entered the room, which we didn't like, and would have liked a way to turn that feature off.

We didn't travel to visit El Portal which is pretty sparse. Its proximity to Yosemite is the reason we visit. There is a service station which is strategically located and also a fairly good coffee shop (dog friendly).

Excellent location. Restaurant and Pizza Parlor on site. Plenty of parking. Store well stocked with a variety of items. Best of all staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again in the future.

The place had Tesla fast charging stations.

The place had Tesla fast charging stations. The property was old but clean. The carpet could use a deep clean. The room had a balcony with a table and some chairs great for drinking with friends or just hang out and relax while looking out the river. The room was really big and spacious with a ref, stove top, coffee maker and some cooking and serving utensils. Actually the property was decent but with no cellular coverage (Tmobile), wifi should have been readily available. Here you have to pay through a 3rd party. Sad! So it’s not great for virtual meetings and stuff.

The location and staff were excellent!!

The location and staff were excellent!! The room was clean, the amenities were great as well, the only problem was our TV. Maintenance couldn’t fix it so they gave us the internet for the TV the first night to remedy the situation which was amazing but not the second night which put a damper on things with no Tv to relax the second night.

The room was clean, spacious, and felt very new. It was quiet and comfortable, with a small kitchen that was very convenient. The patio was a lovely place to relax after a day of exploring. The location is an excellent base for visiting Yosemite, only about a 30-minute drive away. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend Cedar Lodge.
