FAQs about hotels in Yosemite National Park

Nature at its Immaculate Best

UNESCO World Heritage-listed Yosemite National Park is famous for spectacular granite rocks, plunging waterfalls and crystal clear lakes, immortalised in Ansel Adams photographs. Half Dome is its most famous peak and there is a hiking route up if you’ve got the energy.

At its feet is Yosemite Village, home to the only Yosemite hotels inside the park. Nearby is sheer El Capitan, popular with rock climbers, and the Cathedral Rocks where the Bridalveil Fall plummets to the ground. The Tunnel View observation point offers magnificent views of all this.

The Yosemite Falls are the highest in North America, but the park’s real beauty is just being surrounded by immaculate nature. From summer to winter Yosemite has a special draw attracting visitors year after year. It also attracts a wide range of native American wildlife including black bears, mountain beavers and coyotes.

South-west of the park is the forest of giant sequoias at Mariposa Grove. Mariposa itself is by Yosemite Airport and Oakhurst to the south has a good range of accommodation. El Portal has the closest hotels to Yosemite. On the eastern side, June Lake and Mammoth Lakes also have Yosemite hotels near the park available on Booking.com. Wherever you stay, bear in mind that some roads do get closed in case of heavy snow.

It's an awesome autocamp! Highly recommend the Airstream vans, they are fabulous. The main hangout room was spectacular ... wanted to hang there for ages. So comfortable with a fabulous contemporary vibe. The vans were fabulous as well. Loved the individual fire to cook on.

Room is big, and bath tube is clean. With air conditioner and electric fireplace. I stayed in building named Sequoia and had a balcony facing the river. It feels good to simply sit there and listen to the sound of the river.

It really needed to be updated. the carpets were shabby and did not look clean, There was a continental breakfast offered but it does not start until 8 AM. We had to leave before breakfast started so we never got any and we were there for 4 nights. That was one of the reasons we booked this hotel. There are much nicer hotels in Mammoth Lakes without breakfast for a cheaper rate.

El Portal is a small town on the Merced river bank. It is very peaceful and quiet. I can imagine one can spend a lot of time exploring the Merced river here. I also found a lot of spots for having a picnic here.

The location to Yosemite was great.

The location to Yosemite was great. The front desk Representative (Cliff) was super good in helping us decide what to do at Yosemite. We stayed in a 2 queen bed room and it was very roomy. The beds were comfortable. We had some kids above us who were running constantly making banging noises on the floor above us keeping us awake. We finally called the front desk for help and they promptly addressed the situation. Breakfast was decent. Parking was easy. I’d definitely recommend this place.

A lovely, peaceful authentic town, with a couple of great museums and focal points, lots of options for eating out and easily accessible. Located not too far from Yosemite National Park, it offers a value for money option, with its own unique history. Traffic is light, so it is an ideal area to vacate, away from the hustle and bustle you can get closer to larger cities. It has a great store for your everyday food and home goods, along with independent bakeries, health stores and boutique shops. If you crave the global brands, Starbucks and others are also on the high street. Something for everyone! Supporting the independent community is paramount to its success, you won’t be disappointed!

Groveland is about 30 minutes outside the entrance to Yosemite and about an hour from Yosemite Lodge in the main part of the valley. Since lodging in the park is pretty expensive (unless you are tent camping or have an RV), Groveland is a convenient location to stay either just before or after visiting the park. Multiple lodging and restaurant options w/ varying price range.

Tenaya Lodge is a great place to stay there are a lot of activities for adults and kids. During the winter they have a lot of holiday activities like building gingerbread houses, ice skating outside, bobsledding, hiking, archery, roasting s'mores over the fire pits and much more. Small town about an hour out of Yosemite. We didn't leave our cabin except to drive up to Yosemite so we didn't really experience the town. Hadn't taken this route into Yosemite before so was delighted to find the drive from Midpines into the valley to be really beautiful.
