We were happily surprised that so many condiments/seasonings and such were in the fridge and cabinets! We only had to supply the major foods to make a delicious Christmas dinner. The night light in the bathroom was also a welcome surprise. The television had lots of great options, and we could log in to our own streaming services for lots of choices.

wE WERE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE QUILT SHOPS. tHEY COUNTED A NUMBER OF SHOPS AS QUILT SHOPS THAT HAD NO FABRIC OR REALLY ANYTHING TO DO WITH QUILTING. I WOULD COUNT A SHOP THAT HAD ONLY COMFORTABLE CHAIRS AND A QUILT TABLE AS A QUILT SHOP. NOR THE SHOPS THAT HAD ONLY THINGS LIKE CANDLES AND TOWELS. NOR WERE WE IMPRESSED WITH THE SELECTION OF FABRICS. MY FRIEND DIDN'T BUY ANY FABRIC. I BOUGHT A COUPLE FOR BACKING. I BOUGHT TWO COOK BOOKS AND A TEA POT BUT I CERTAINLY WOULDN'T DRIVE 400 MILES ONE WAY FOR THAT. WE WILL NOT BE GOING THERE AGAIN. OH YES, WE FOUND EATING PLACES FOR EVENING MEAL VERY INADIQUET. WE ENDED UP EATING THE SNACKS WE BROUGHT WITH FOR OUR EVENING MEALS.

Hamilton is a town known for all 17 of its stores catered to quilters. I took my sister there for her 65th birthday. She's a quilter and had a great time. Since it is off season, many of the restaurants were closed. We did have breakfast at EEGO's and the food was delicious. We just grabbed some soup and crackers from the Dollar General for our supper and snacks. One day we drove to Cameron (13 miles) and ate at Dino's for breakfast. GREAT food and SUPERB service. Would return there in a heartbeat. My sister loved all the quilt-related stores and spent more than her fair share :-). We had a great time!

When we rang Sarah up she was most helpful we got beautiful weather which made is great for walking everywhere. As quilters we had a ball there at all the Missouri Star shops...Of course we didn't stop talking to every one....We didn't want to drive any where as we drive right handed home here and really didn't want a car pile up.....We are so pleased we made it to Hamilton , it was SOOOOOOO well worth it....

Hamilton is a unique town.

Hamilton is a unique town. Most everything there involves some aspect of quilting. That's the reason we visited. Missouri Star Quilt Co. and at least a dozen related stores offer innumerable opportunities to "shop till-you-drop". So, if you are into quilting or just like small towns, come here to visit. Everyone was friendly. We visited all the quilt shops, the Missouri Quilt Museum, wound some thread around the "world's largest spool of thread" and enjoyed the small-town ambience.

This was a Christmas trip to visit family members nearby, so the quilt shops weren't open much of the time! (That really only affected me, the quilter!!) There are only a few restaurants, but we found that Pasta Villa was excellent. By renting a house, we had a full kitchen and did our own meals, mostly. The grocery store was well-stocked. However, we planned to have brunch with all of us after we checked out, but local food places were not open on the day after Christmas, and we had to go to another town to eat. Just a problem with the calendar, I'm sure!

Several buildings downtown are connected with the Missouri Star Quilt Company - pleasant shopping experience and we enjoyed lunch at Kathy's Kitchen. The Tree Patch sells mature trees, and the owner gave us a great tour of the place.
