It was a nice big room. We went to the Rivers Casino and they had a free shuttle which was perfect. All of the workers at the hotel from the front desk to the shuttle divers were all so nice and helpful.

The location was great! We took the airport train, which has a stop only a few blocks away from Roost. Made it super simple. I also love that the desk was manned 24 hours / day, so we could drop our luggage before check-in. It had the feeling of an AirBnB, with the benefits of a hotel stay.

FAQs about hotels in Philadelphia

Friendly City of the Founding Fathers

The birthplace of American independence, Philadelphia was founded in 1682 by William Penn. The name of the city translates to City of Brotherly Love and the city itself is a vibrant mix of history, art and culture.

Philly is famed for its public art with more sculptures and murals than any other city in the USA. Seeing the best graffiti and statues won’t break the bank balance, since you can find many free tours and admire them absolutely free of charge!

It’s also home to many national historical sites with the Independence National Historical Park as a starting point and center for all the major landmarks, including Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Liberty Bell is located, the symbol of the American Revolution.

Visit the world’s largest urban landscaped park, Fairmount Park, with over 17 square miles of green area. There are plenty of paths and hiking trails and after that, enjoy a local cheesesteak sandwich, soft pretzel or some Tastykake snacks.

Arriving at Philadelphia International Airport, you’re just a 20-minute ride from downtown. Booking.com has a variety of hotels in downtown Philly, near the airport or for the sports enthusiasts, near the Wells Fargo Center.

What Guests Said About Philadelphia:

Scored out of 10, guest rating 10

Philly is an exceptional city for the arts and for history.

Philly is an exceptional city for the arts and for history. Public transportation is difficult to deal with except for the Phlash bus, which is free for seniors. Thankfully, given the size of the metropolis, the center city is very compact, and sites are easily accessible. Highly recommended: Philadelphia Art Museum, Rodin Museum, Kimmel Center, Academy of Music, Highmark Mann Pavillion, Independence Hall, Carpenter's Hall, Betsy Ross House, Christ Church, Museum of the American Revolution, and American Constitution Center. Not recommended: Barnes Foundation, which has exceptional art that is strangely displayed in a way that detracts from the paintings, overwhelms the eye, and is frustratingly uninformative. By far, it is the worst art museum experience we have ever had anywhere in the world!

Most of the historic area is clean, no garbage and no homeless. Felt safe walking around during the day. The historic sites are wonderful but the biggest problem is that no accommodations are made for visitors traveling thousands of miles to celebrate July 4 in Philadelphia. The museums and locations open late, around 10 am, and close early, around 4pm or 5pm. The hours are not convenient. They should open things much earlier and stay open later. Some places are only open on the weekends. City officials cancelled the 250th Independence celebration and parade but allowed an anti-ICE rally. Doesn't seem like the city leaders care about American history. Tremendous disservice to people traveling there. Museums are great. Uber was fast and easy, definitely recommend using Uber. Overall, old city center is great, easy to walk around and get to places. If the historic places were open longer you'd be able to see more, which made many aspects about the trip inconvenient.

Very tourist friendly city.

Very tourist friendly city. Everything is labeled with signs for easy pedestrian navigation. Liberty Bell, Constitution Museum, Ben Franklin House, double decker bus tour, Eastern States Penitentary, Betsy Ross House, LOVE Park, Local breweries and LUMINSCENCE at Cathedral of St. Paul and Peter were excellent and kept us busy. Dinner at Hard Rock was good. Beers and lunch outside at Independence Beer Garden while watching the FIFA soccer matches was a cool way to beat the midday heat. Saw Young Washington at local AMC theater with heated, reclining seats! Didn't get into the Independence Hall but it was high security (lots of secret service and homeland security around the weekend we were there - 4th of July).

Great amenities, for a gigantic city, no real traffic issues, except behind the Art Museum. Great affordable food options. Parking downtown is MONSTEROUSLY expensive, like insane. Don't make the trip when it's 105 F out, like I did. Hide in the Art Museum and the Mutter Museum, like I did.

Our stay at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel truly special, with every detail thoughtfully taken care of. The location is excellent, the service outstanding, and the hospitality unforgettable. Thank you for an incredible stay!
