We loved staying here. It really feels like you've escaped life. The views are spectacular, the walks are stunning. We only wish we could have stayed longer. It was worth every penny spent, we left feeling relaxed and peaceful. A real slice of heaven. Margaret was amazing and made sure that we had everything that we needed. We'll be back with family and friends next time.

We loved the little extras that were included. Soaps, creams, rusks, sherry etc. We stayed in Unit 4 Cranny. It’s a very rustic but comfortable place. We lacked nothing. Every comfort has been thought of. We enjoyed the outdoor shower and the exceptional sheets and pillows on our bed. If you are a person who enjoys being interconnected with nature (the good, the bad and the ugly) then this is a little place will suite you well. It has great comforts and is exceptionally clean! The view is breathtaking and so is the sunrise over the mountain. We enjoyed our one night stay there! Thank you Karien for your hospitality and attention to detail!

I LIKED THE SANDSTONE BUILDINGS.

I LIKED THE SANDSTONE BUILDINGS. WE ATE AT THE GREEN ACORN GUEST HOUSE AS WELL AS VICTORIA HOUSE. IT IS NOT EASY TO GET AROUND FICKSBURG AS THE STREETS ARE JUST POTHOLES. WE ONLY ATTENDED A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION. THE ROADS TO FICKSBURG ARE EITHER UNDER CONSTRUCTION OR IN VERY BAD CONDITION. THE EASTERN FREE STATE IS VERY SCENIC WITH AUTUMN LEAVES AND COSMOS EVERYWHERE

Ficksburg is quite a small town, the Voortrekker came...

Ficksburg is quite a small town, the Voortrekker came through and the old Main Street is Voortrekker Street. Very Afrikaans. The churches all had Afrikaans names (with the English name in brackets). There is also a mosque. My experience was wonderful because I got to know a local girl, I can’t guarantee this to other travelers. I stayed in Ficksburg because it is close to the railway museum at the Sandstone Estate, which should be visited during their steam festival in April.

We attended a family funeral.

We attended a family funeral. The town had a morning market in the main road. Not many visitors due to Covid 19 pandemic. The roads from Senekal was full of pot holes and unsafe to drive. Should be avoided.
