Fantastic authentic Japanese house with moving walls and tea room. From outside it looks magnificent. Across the street, nice small holly place and the Grand Temple is few minutes from there.

Great and cozy house on the outskirts of Tonami, perfect if you have a car. Only a few minutes drive to Inami (wood carving town) and the Shogawa river + gorge for beautiful snowy views and the famous thatched roof villages. The house was very clean and was comfortable for staying in the winter.

A traditional Japanese home overlooking a stunning Japanese garden. If you’re wondering, yes, it has those sliding paper doors. The owner lives close by and we met him and his lovely wife the next morning after checking in. It was nice of them to take us on a quick tour around the area. The place is perfect for a relaxing peaceful stay. Isurugi station is five minutes away and there is a convenience store nearby.

The house was exceptional, with an incredibly beautiful garden. Very comfortable accommodation and well-located not far from the market. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone travelling to Kanazawa.

I was a little late finding lodging for our trip, so we regrettably only stayed for 1 night as this place was booked for the rest of our time in Kanazawa - but WOW. Truly amazing place, and Hitty was so incredibly kind to us. He shared the house’s history with us & even brought us up into another part of the house to share some samurai era relics with us. We were personally met by Hitty & given sweets when we arrived, so make sure you give him an accurate time of arrival - we ran late on a tour but he was so gracious and kind about it. He made us a dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant and we had an amazing meal. 10/10, highlight of our trip so far & we will be back!!

We were picked up at the the train station by the host. He gave us a tour while explaining the features of the home. We found an amazing small riverside restaurant (Huni) just a 10 minute walk away. Kenrokuen Garden is a 10 minute walk and should really not be missed (I'm not even a garden person). The location of the home lends itself wonderfully to exploring on foot. If you overdo it, taxis are plentiful and cheap.
