CanadaThe house and bathrooms were spotless and exceptionally clean. The host and manager were both very helpful and welcoming. We had the chance to enjoy an authentic Jaffna meal prepared by their cook, and it was absolutely delicious! The crab curry and mutton curry were iconic, I’ve started loving the unique spice and flavor of Jaffna-style cooking.
The environment was peaceful and relaxing; waking up every morning to the sound of birds chirping and taking evening walks around the beautiful garden were truly mesmerizing experiences. Our kids especially enjoyed playing with the village-style pump set every day — such a lovely, authentic touch.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back soon!

United Stateswhen we first booked this stay, we wondered if it was too good to be true. We can say now that it was everything we hoped for, and more. The property is absolutely beautiful, with a view of palm trees and greenery from the veranda. The woodwork, windows, furniture, decor are all gorgeous. The bedroom was very comfortable with top-notch A/C and shuttered windows that blocked out all light for a good night's sleep. Above all, our hosts were the best we ever had. They are caring, kind, considerate, warm people. We felt so cared for with the best food we've ever had in our Sri Lankan travels (at an amazing price), and their ongoing effort to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We had great conversations about Sri Lankan culture and received many valuable tips about how to make the most of our time. Truly a beautiful family and stay. We could keep going on, but if you've read this far, just book it!!

The villa gave us a homely, peaceful vibe — it really felt like our own private space. The entire property was clean, spacious, and well-maintained. Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and everything we needed was available. Highly recommended for families or groups looking for comfort and privacy in Jaffna!

United StatesSuper modern, AC in every room, and very clean. Definitely the nicest place I stayed at while in Jaffna. Host stayed in the house with us but was super nice, brought us juice when we checked in and gave us an awesome breakfast.

Run by a friendly and attentive couple, the place was immaculate, providing a peaceful retreat without any disturbances.
The highlight of our mornings was the delicious breakfast. This cottage is perfect for both foreigners and local families looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay.

Berty and his wife are charming hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. Their cooking is absolutely delicious - a delight to get enjoyed. The rooms are spacious and very clean. I had left my medicines in Colombo and Berty took me I to the pharmacy to have the replaced.
Their ho e is situated in a very quiet area and you wake to the sound of a variety of birds.
A very enjoyable and comfortable stay and I will definitely stay there again when I next return to Jaffna

Our stay at Berty’s Cottage was outstanding. Berty and Hilda are wonderful people really helpful with anything we needed, train, tuk tuk & tours before and after we arrived. Food was delicious as we requested genuine Sri Lankan and my husband got great cooking tips in the kitchen with dinner. They even packed our breakfast because we had a very early departure. The accommodation and their home is very clean and we felt welcome in all living areas. Thank you Berty and Hilda for a wonderful visit to Jaffna.

Berty was a very amicable, courteous host in his home. Right from the start he helped in arranging pick up from the airport & a warm welcome at his place. Room was simple but quiet, clean and comfortable. Location excellent. Breakfast was fresh and well prepared. He also helped in organising tours around Jaffna and taxi service to Colombo. If you are looking for simple yet comfortable homestay in Jaffna, Berty Cottage is a gem of a place sure to satisfy most guests.

We really liked Betty’s Cottage and the owners were really nice. They booked our bus from Colombo to Jaffna which was a huge help, and they waited up until 4 am for us to arrive. We had only booked the place for the following night so they charged us half a day. The breakfast offered was fine, nothing to rave about. The WiFi is really good! The hosts are also nice and very dedicated to making sure we got everything we needed.
