The house was exceptional, with an incredibly beautiful garden. Very comfortable accommodation and well-located not far from the market. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone travelling to Kanazawa.

I was a little late finding lodging for our trip, so we regrettably only stayed for 1 night as this place was booked for the rest of our time in Kanazawa - but WOW. Truly amazing place, and Hitty was so incredibly kind to us. He shared the house’s history with us & even brought us up into another part of the house to share some samurai era relics with us. We were personally met by Hitty & given sweets when we arrived, so make sure you give him an accurate time of arrival - we ran late on a tour but he was so gracious and kind about it. He made us a dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant and we had an amazing meal. 10/10, highlight of our trip so far & we will be back!!

We were picked up at the the train station by the host. He gave us a tour while explaining the features of the home. We found an amazing small riverside restaurant (Huni) just a 10 minute walk away. Kenrokuen Garden is a 10 minute walk and should really not be missed (I'm not even a garden person). The location of the home lends itself wonderfully to exploring on foot. If you overdo it, taxis are plentiful and cheap.

Very nice traditional lodging in Kanazawa, Higashyama. We would stay again.

A beautiful house in a quiet part of town. We loved the amenities; the house is renovated, has a certain charm, and is very nice and spacious. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

The highlight of our trip! The hosts were very welcoming and responsive. They have made a magical home in the hills here, beautifully nestled beside the forest and farm fields (and our young daughter was convinced Totoro was in the trees). The traditional building itself was amazing to see and it has been restored with so much love. The location is ideal. It’s a short drive to places like Yamanaka and grocery stores are easily accessible while also feeling very far away. The amenities were great. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and pots and pans. The bathroom was great. I particularly loved that there was a toddler sized toilet and low sinks for our daughter. The futon beds were the most comfortable of our entire trip. They were so plush and we slept well with the heaters on during our late autumn stay. And there was plenty of bedding and toys and equipment for my baby too! I think they have done something really wonderful by making this home and community in the hills!
