This booking was so much more than we expected! As a family of 6, it was wonderful to have so many amenities available. The views all around are stunning- we stopped at Kiyotsu gorge, sightsaw the Uonuma Skyline, took in the mountain reflections in the rice terraces, and stopped at 3 foot baths in the area. They even allowed our dog to stay too! Highly recommend booking Urasa Cottage. Thank you for the hospitality and wonderful stay!

Hiroko-san has been so lovely and helpful in welcoming us and sharing with us the places to visit and eat. We visited all the sushi places she recommended for dinner and they are spectacular. She even helped us reserved the dinner at a local sushi restaurant for our last night and it was one of the best dinners we ever had. Her Guesthouse is super clean and spacious and the beds r so comfortable. And most of all the lovely cats that accompanied us. We miss them!

I can only say good things about this place. I love every aspect of it and I feel at ease staying here. I wish I stayed longer! At first I thought my room would be cold at night, but the aircon definitely worked and I slept comfortably. I had a slow morning sipping tea while sitting in the veranda, enjoying the winter view. The family who runs the place is very nice and the cat is super cute. It feels more like staying with a host family than staying at an inn.

My wife and I traveled through the entire country of Japan for over a month and when we talk about the “Shark” we always smile. First of all the owners were the nicest most accommodating people we met on our trip. They helped us get from the ferry to the Shark, arranged a tour around the island, and gave us advice not only for the island, but for the entire country. You will not find a better host. The accommodations are tremendous with beautiful views of the water from your private tub. I love beautiful upscale hotels, but I also love local out of the way places that are an adventure. This place checks both boxes.

Meanwhile Woods is located in Myoko, just 24 miles from Suzaka Zoo and 26 miles from Ryuoo Ski Park.

We cannot say enough great things about our stay at Meanwhile Woods. The location near the gondola is exceptional and there is an onsen next door. The kitchen is well equipped to make meals at home. The space is quiet and so peaceful. Marcus himself is the most gracious host one could ask for. This was an absolute 5/5 star stay. We do hope our travels bring us back to the myoko area again for a repeat visit. Do not hesitate to book this property, you won’t be disappointed in anything .

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Tiny House! It had everything we needed--a surprisingly large bed, pots and pans to cook, a nice shower--all neatly organized in a very small space. It was also extremely clean. We rented it to see the Katakai fireworks, and it was perfectly located for this. We also saw Sumo at the festival, a "bull sumo" competition, and the koi museum. It is close-ish (45 minutes or so) to the Echigo-Tsumari art field as well, which was really cool.

Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated Yukinoya Furusawa-Tei provides accommodations with a garden and free Wifi. A hot tub is available for guests.

The entire experience, from pre arrival to the greeting upon check in to check out, it was all perfect! Great hospitality, clean and beautiful accomodation and wonderful breakfast made on site by local moms! Maiko san was extremely communicative upon booking and Shoko san was an amazing host, helping us with any questions and genuinely friendly. The house was great, but the staff made our stay exceptional!
