The Japanese house setting with neat and clean rooms. Also the additional manga, books and board games were entertaining too! Everything was well arranged with proper and clear instructions about their operation. The rooms were very spacious too. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and even guided us to the guest house by a phone call.

Location was awesome - close to trains, shopping, convenient to sightseeing. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful (though a bit more variety from day to day would be better). Would stay here again for my visit to Kyoto.

One of the coolest hotel experiences I have ever had, the hot springs were incredible.

It’s a very old Ryokan but it is well maintained. It has its own public bath so you get to experience it without an added cost and it is very convenient. Our room had its own bath too. The dinner was very good, every dish served was good. The Japanese lady who served us was very kind and attentive. I also liked the garden view from the room. The train station is nearby.

The Thousand Kyoto features air-conditioned rooms with satellite flat-screen TV in the Shimogyo Ward district of Kyoto.
