Hands down the best of the 3 places we stayed at in our one-week in Bukit Lawang. It's so dreamy and we were very sad to leave. Besides the aircon and Hot water shower, the location is unbeatable with the river flowing right outside the balcony. We even saw two orangutans hanging from trees from right across the river! The hosts were extremely friendly and gracious, they offered the best rates on transfers too! The Wild River restaurant next door is very good and offers value for money. Book here!

This guesthouse is truly a gem, Brian makes sure you have an amazing stay! You can tell he really cares about his guests. The room and bathroom are very clean and comfortable. The food is incredible too (plenty of vegan and vegetarian options)! I did a 2 night jungle trek with them as well and everything was very well organised, great food and fruit on the trek, comfortable campsites by the river and close to a waterfall. You could tell that the guide really enjoyed being in nature, he had so much knowledge about the animals and plants and made us feel really safe. I got a bee sting and he had magic oil that made the sting disappear in just 30 min! I had a really great stay and trek with Brian and his team and definitely recommend them and would definitely come back one day! :)

Property was clean and overlooked the river view. My stay was excellent, and I also booked the jungle trek with them. It was absolutely amazing, and it was their own business. So it was a small group. Ricky and Anto were great with taking care of us. You should really try this activity! It’s very very worth it, and rest assured you are in good hands.

I liked everything! The room was spacious and clean, the bed was super comfy, my private outside space was huge and beautiful. The staff were always friendly and smiley and incredibly helpful. The food was delicious and the coffee was hot. I was made to feel very welcome. The hotel is located in a beautiful spot by the river and within walking distance of the jungle, a paradise that I didn't want to leave. My guide wisnu (Nu) was fabulous, he made my holiday absolutely perfect. He took me to the best places and was always happy, smiley and friendly, with lots of knowledge of the area. Not just a guide to me now, I also consider him a friend. He's given me some of my best memories and I can't thank him enough. I highly recommend Junia hotel to everyone. I'm a solo traveler, but this place is perfect for couples and families alike. I genuinely did not want to leave and as soon as I can, I will be back. Thank you guys for everything xxx

The hotel was very clean, had a massive bed with a mosquito net with no holes. The bathroom and shower were huge. The porch had an awesome view right along the river which was great for watching the rain storms and trekkers coming down the river. There’s a prime swimming spot just across the grassy gnoll. It was also a very quiet part of the river so it was often pretty tranquil and relaxing. The staff was great. Thomas checked in regularly and arranged everything for us, he also allowed us to put everything on a tab and pay by card at the end and since there are no ATMs in the village this was a huge help. The food was good and quick and open pretty late. The internet only ever got spotty during torrential rainstorms and even then mostly held out. The AC worked flawlessly. We also did our trek through them and Ren and Arnold were amazing. They were so knowledgeable, friendly, and understanding. The trek was difficult but incredibly rewarding. One of us got sick and Renwa worked with us to adjust our trek so we could still have fun catch some rare animals while making sure the sick person had a quick and easier trek back to the hotel. We saw 90% of the animals on the Bukit Lawang Bucket List. And the food we had for dinner on the Trek was the best meal I’ve had in Indonesia so far which considering we were in the jungle was very impressive. I could not have been more pleased with my booking choice. Thank you Thomas, Arnold, and Renwa

We had an awesome stay at Sama Sama Homestay. The owners are so welcoming, kind and friendly, so we directly felt comfortable. The brewed us delicious coffee each day and were always up for some nice and interesting smalltalk. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and we especially liked the balcony area to take some coffee and relax. We recommend a stay here!!

Arif is a very friendly host. Great room, directly in nature. Keep in mind that the homestay is quite far away, especially when you have heavy luggage. But they offer a porter service.

Alek is the most helpful homestay host we have had. He managed to sort out our 3D2N trek the night before we wanted to go and he lent us his bike to travel to an ATM. The location is ideal and lots of nice places to eat right outside. Well worth the price!!

Arif and Risky are great hosts. The hotel is 30 minutes walking into the jungle and in a nice quiet area. Al you can hear is the river flowing by, the animals and the rain on the roof Awesome jungle trekking with Wanda and Juli. And great local food at night made by Risky.
