Wonderful property and host! Iqbal and his staff were so warm and welcoming! They went above and beyond making sure I felt comfortable and enjoyed my stay! I was welcomed with delicious pineapple juice and a pastry. I ended extending my stay because it was such a warm and cozy place to spend a few days at the beach. Beach access is a few meters away. Iqbal also arranged surf lessons to peanut farm and I couldn’t recommend them enough! Best surf coach I’ve ever had! The room was very clean and spacious with hangers for wet clothes and storage. The hammocks outside each room are a very nice touch and relaxing. Each morning, the breakfast was very good and tasty! Lots of fresh fruit! Whatever you need, Iqbal and his team will take care of. Had a lot of nice chats with Iqbal. He will be missed! Wish I could stay for longer. Will definitely be back to this cozy piece of paradise.

We loved our stay at Maccan's - the proximity to the beach is great, the service provided by staff was above and beyond what we have encountered to date on this journey. The rooms are spacious and provide ample lightning and privacy to relax. We felt our room was well priced - the water in shower is not super hot however, this did not impact negatively on our stay. The pool and pool surroundings are excellent to meet and converse with other guests - we found this an excellent opportunity to discuss other Sri Lankan and Arugam Bay experiences we may of other wised missed. Not to mention the crew at Maccan's are fairly handy surfers and will be more than happy to discuss - how best to assist you catching some Arugam Bay waves.

Nothing I wonder how this hotel earned over 3/10

Everything was amazing. Hassan the host is the best. We booked the place at the last minute and we were able to check in right away. Hassan made sure we have everything all the time and even after we left. The location is great right on the beach. Perfect place to relax. Super clean and great service. Would definitely come again. Highly recommend, best hotel in all Sri Lanka.

Clean, peaceful, and well equipped

Exceptional stay! The room was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The location is perfect, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach and close to many restaurants, cafes, shops, and the main commercial area. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything needed, which made the stay even more convenient. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming, and I felt at home from the moment I arrived. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always available when needed. Everything was exactly as described, and the property offers excellent value for money. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area and would definitely stay here again.

Very friendly couple, they helped us a lot and told us what to do and what scams to avoid. There is a kitchen in the hostel. The room was clean.

Aqua Blue is right next to the beach, like 50 m away, and in a more quiet location. If you go to the main street, you can sometimes see the 'local' elephant in the marsh nearby. The place is clean, has AC and everything you need, even a hammock to chill in. Basheer is always there to help you with pretty much everything you need. The breakfast is very good and the cappuccino, one of the best in Sri Lanka. I totally recommend Aqua Blue!
