Quieter place down a little alley, in a less busy part of the old quarter that isn’t full of tourists. The property is a really cool old building with high vaulted ceilings, rooms have a nice view of the city around it and some overlook a pagoda. Owners were unbelievably nice and had the BEST authentic recommendations for places to eat in the surrounding area.

I had an amazing 2 night stay at Spuds&Bunks Hostel and it is easily one of my favorite places in Vietnam. It is spotlessly clean, well-kept, and has a wonderful, chilled-out social atmosphere without the chaotic noise of a pure party hostel. Located down a quiet lane off Tu Hoa in the peaceful Quang A neighborhood by West Lake, it gives you a true local experience away from the busy city center. The beds are exceptionally comfortable with privacy curtains and crisp, thick white cotton bedsheets, meaning I had a great, great sleep each time. The place perfectly fit my red-eye flights. When I landed, it gave me a nice place to sleep from 2 AM to 11 AM before starting city tours. Before my flight home, it allowed me a nice place to rest from 2 PM to 8 PM after checking out from my previous place. I tried the 4-bed bunk room on the 2nd floor, which has an ensuite toilet and bath, and the 6-bed room on the 3rd or 4th floor, which has separate toilet and bathroom setup located in another part of the floor. The staff are the absolute highlight. Everyone is friendly and responsive. The great people at reception, like Mike and Christine, the moment you arrive go out of their way to help. I also loved the cafe right at the entrance. The food is awesome and affordable, especially their "Naked Potato" jacket potatoes, the juices and shakes. The cafe staff are so welcoming, making it the perfect spot if you just want to hang out and enjoy a quiet afternoon. If you are looking for a welcoming, safe, social, and spotlessly clean home base in Hanoi with premium quality, I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back!

The capsule is big and very clean and bed is comfortable. Super close to everything in old quarter just by walking. Worth the price and would come back.

I booked my stay for a night and ended up extending it to four nights. The location turned out to be perfect. Still close to the old quarter but not in the middle of that hectic environment. The room was neat and I particularly liked the attention to detail in decorations and amenities. i stayed in a private room with a king size bed. bed was really comfortable. it really feels like a boutique hotel even tho it is advertised as homestay. the staff was always very attentive and helpful. there's no breakfast but there's a café and there are plenty of options to get food around. the neighborhood felt self and lively with many locals going about their life/having dinner around. I would definitely recommend the place for people that want to explore Hanoi and want a convenient location, comfortable space not in the middle of busy streets, and enjoy exploring nice cafés and artsy vibes in the neighborhood (manzi, bookworm hanoi, bluebird's nest). thank you Hanique, you really made my stay unique, will definitely come back!

Wonderful place! New, the capsules are so bug and spacious! The temperature is so pleasant and everything is clean. + the location is great. I stay at a lot of hostels and this has been my favorite!
