Mountainside Wines offers guests a complete digital detox. Located about 20 minutes' drive east of Ararat the cottage looks over the vineyard. Wildlife is abundant on the property with kangaroos, kookaburras, echidnas and cockatoos commonplace. Properties surrounding us run sheep & cattle. As a digital detox there is no television, internet or mobile phone at the property. The Blue House is a self-contained cottage offering guests the opportunity to cook for themselves. Alternatively, there are many cafes and restaurants in Ararat where people can enjoy a meal.
Shane & Jane Goninon have moved from Melbourne to Warrak in the Grampians to run Mountainside Wines. We have opened the vineyard, winery, cellar door and accommodation to the public for the first time to share the beauty and serenity that is Warrak.
State parks surround the property with opportunities to bushwalk, ride dirt bikes and camp while town amenities are only 20 minutes away. Attractions to visit include Gum San Chinese Heritage Museum, J Ward asylum for the criminally insane and Aradale, an asylum for the mentally ill which was closed only in the 1990s.
