Grenfell Hall is a unique property in Grenfell. It was built in 1907 as a private home and was bought by the Roman Catholic Church in 1952 and made into a convent for the order of the Josephites. This is when the Chapel was added. The church sold the convent in 1977 and it had many incarnations. The Hall now as been fully restored to its former glory with beautiful stenciled walls and is furnished with beautiful antiques and art from around the world.
I am a retired public servant (Foreign Affairs) and have had posting in a number of countries.
Grenfell is a delightful town on the South Western slopes of NSW. The Scenery is beautiful and can be admired from the number of country drives around the area. From late July to mid November the countryside is a sea of Yellow when the Canola is flowering. It was the birth place of Henry Lawson (one of Australia's most famous poets. We have the Weddin National Park when there are a number of beautiful and interesting walks, including Ben Hall's Cave (a famous bushranger), Seaton's farm with it's Vernacular Architecture, One can also visit Iandra Castle. We also have the Henry Lawson Festival.Grenfell is a great central spot from where one can visit reagonal towns like Cowra (The Japanese Gardens)., Young for the Cherry Festival, Forbes for the Car museum, Parkes to visit 'the dish' and Canowindra to visit the Fossil Mueum
