I bought the historic 4-bedroom cottage 18 years ago and was told of it's history from it's previous owner- my friend and long term Nagambie resident, Mrs. Elaine Lodding. Elaine said her father bought the house around 70 years ago and she proudly showed me photos of the home and property in it's various stages of renovation. I first opened Relaxing on Val BnB in October 2018 and commenced modifying the bathroom and home for wheelchair access; to assist relatives with access needs to be able to attend weddings and family events. Elaine was relieved I restored the home towards it's original state and I was grateful when she gifted me a copy of the original title for the property, which I have on display in the living room at the cottage. I often host Elaine and my 93 year-old neighbour Thelma Bird for cake and coffee at the BnB .
As an Occupational Therapist, I have an interest in supporting persons with access needs to be able to enjoy a holiday away with family and friends; so I set about renovating the BnB to enable this. It was my pleasure to hear from recent guests at my BnB: a 91 year- old grandmother of the groom and a 85y ear-old Granny of the bride: both got to lead the bridal party down the aisle with their walking frames. The family said everyone was excited these ladies were able to attend the Nagambie wedding and stay safely at accommodation in Nagambie. A return drive to Melbourne and the wedding would have been too much and these ladies would not have been able to attend otherwise.
Nagambie is a lovely tourist township located 90 minutes' drive from Melbourne. The town hosts a range of water sport competitions including rowing and has ample venues for swimming, fishing and water sports. There a several wineries, eateries and tourist attractions to be enjoyed in this area. Watching the sun set on the Nagambie lake is memorable and worth a photograph!
