River Gardens Axedale Pet Friendly Farm Stay B&B is a working sheep and goat farm that offers 2 types of pet friendly accommodation on our 133 acres of cropping land with approximately 500 metres of Campaspe river frontage. Please be aware when bringing pets that we have several extremely friendly and well socialised dogs, cats, chickens, guinea fowl and the occasional bottle fed lamb roaming the property, so if your dog is aggressive or hates cats this may not be suitable for you. There is also a pet fee of payable upon arrival. The 2 accommodation areas though under the homestead roofline have private access with one being similar to a motel room with kitchenette, ensuite and the capacity to sleep 3 (1 double, 1 single) and the other a fully self contained unit that can sleep up to 4 (1 double and 1 double sofa bed). The homestead is on approximately 2 acres of manicured gardens with access to the river just a stroll away. We are approximately 1/2 way on the O'Keefe rail trail so are a great place to stay if you are planning to bicycle to either Heathcote or Bendigo. Whilst here you can join in farm activities, relax in the gardens or use us as a base to explore Bendigo, Heathcote and Lake Eppalock all of which are less than 1/2 hour away.

I love animals (we have 9 dogs, 2 cats, chickens, Guinea fowl, ducks, sheep and goats) gardening and spoiling people, so this is the perfect place where I can do all three and best of all I can share it with you.

Just a couple of kilometres away is the delightful township of Axedale which boasts a general store/bank/post office/take away/petrol, police station, café, a playground, Platypus Point and what country town would be complete without a pub. The Axedale Tavern has it all, fantastic meals (take away is available) a coffee house and an amazing beer garden that even has live entertainment and is pet friendly. NB the pub is closed Mondays except during holiday periods.
