Welcome to Numie – Wattle Cocoon. Set among private bushland on the Freycinet Peninsula, this unique stay is designed to feel completely immersed in nature while still delivering comfort in all the right places. Located just 10 minutes from Coles Bay and Freycinet National Park, this adults-only retreat is perfect for those wanting to slow down, switch off and experience the landscape in a more intimate way. Each cocoon features Japandi-inspired interiors, blending clean Nordic design with warm Japanese minimalism. Natural materials, organic textures and low-toxicity finishes create a calm, restful space. Inside you’ll find cloud-like bedding with European linen, soft pillows and a comfortable mattress, along with an automatic pellet wood burner that keeps the space warm and cosy at the press of a button. Step outside to your private deck where a hot tub with natural low-chlorine filtration invites you to soak while taking in views of the Hazards and across Pelican Bay. Just steps away, a separate dining pod is fully equipped with a BBQ, gas stove and mini fridge, making cooking easy, while the outdoor fire pit is perfect for slow breakfasts, long lunches or relaxed evenings surrounded by bushland and coastal air. With only two cocoons and one glamping tent on the property, each site is spaced 20m apart and screened by natural bush for privacy and uninterrupted views, and all amenities are completely private. The area is also a true dark sky location, offering incredible stargazing and, on clear nights, even the chance to see the aurora. While the property feels secluded, you’re just a short drive to Coles Bay for cafés, supplies, and tours, and minutes from Freycinet National Park’s beaches, trails, and lookouts. Spend your days exploring Wineglass Bay, spotting Tasmania’s wildlife, and sampling local food and wine, then return to the bush to relax by the fire, soak in the hot tub, and stargaze under a world-class dark sky. Coles Bay itself is a small seaside village with a handful of local cafés and dining spots, along with easy access to boat ramps, beaches and walking trails. Fresh local seafood is a highlight, including the nearby Freycinet Marine Farm where oysters and mussels are served straight from the water. It’s a place to slow down, explore the coastline and take in the unique landscape that makes this part of Tasmania so special. You will need your own car to see all this area has on offer.
