Pedra Viva is a new company set up with the aim to adhere and reconverse unique buildings such as the church in Diksmuide. The St Bartholomeus church will be reconverted and given a new purpose over time. In the meanwhile, Pedra Viva will manage the temporary activities inside the church such as the champing and the summer bar.

We offer a unique experience: up to twelve people can stay overnight in a real church. All original elements of the church, such as the church bell, the pulpit, the altar, the benches and the confessional, are still at the site. These can be used freely - with respect for their historical value, of course. There are placed 6 wooden sleeping huts in the church, each of which can be used by two people. We carefully designed these ‘champing pods’ to highlight the architectural qualities of the neogothic church. For example, every pod has a patron saint watching over them. From the pod, one has a unique view of the lit wooden barrel vault of the church. Moreover, every pod offers each couple extra privacy vis-à-vis the rest of the group and the coziness to sleep comfortably in the large church. Four of these units have double beds (160 cm/63 in), the two others have single beds (80 cm/31 in). The six pods are always rented out together and cannot be booked individually. Enjoy the company of your fellow guests in the dining area, the couches or the games room (table football, darts,…). The sanitary infrastructure consists of two separate units, each with shower, sink and toilet.

Bed & Bar Tolomeus is located in the small village Kaaskerke, part of Diksmuide. The region is known for its WW1 sites and its vast nature reserves. There are diverse walking and cyclling routes in the area. Diksmuide is located 12km from the Belgian coastline - the nearest beach is Nieuwpoort.
