Thank you for viewing my property. The Mad Cow holiday house is over 100 years old and is located in the village of Bönigen, nestling between two mountain ranges at the lower end of the lake Brienze just a 5 min bus ride from Interlaken Ost. Relax and feel like a local in this conveniently located apartment. It is private, very comfortable, clean, homely and decorated in a delightful eclectic style with a blend of old and new.I've spent a lot of time and detail furnishing my flat with recycled, up-cycled, quirky furniture and home wares. The kitchen is gorgeous and modern and well equipped for those wanting to stay in and eat after a long day exploring. There are two bedrooms with one double bed and two singles and a pull out sofa bed for one. The front yard has a herb and veggie garden, BBQ and a sitting area. An idyllic spot to relax and listen to the river bubbling nearby. If you poke your head over the fence you can see our neighbors horses in their stable. You may be lucky enough to see them heading off to work pulling wagons called Kutsche. It is possible to ride in one and tour around Interlaken.
I love to travel and found this gorgeous region on a backpacking travel in 1993 and it beacame my seasonal home till 2006, then I moved into my beautiful house and it became my year round home. I am creative and re vamp and recycle old furniture and deco, some of which you can see in the apartment.I have a fun shop in Interlaken called The Mad Cow which is full of cool gifts. Living here I have grown to love the mountains ( formerly a beach bum ) and now embrace skiing. My boyfriend calls me the Berg Escargot - mountain snail. I do enjoy chatting over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and enjoy meeting new people and hearing there stories as I have one or two. I ticked french as one of my languages but its basic, I try!
In the heart of the Berner Oberland -Take a stroll around the village and find out lots of exciting information about the old houses and the customs and traditions of Bönigen from the 16th – 18th century. And acquaint yourself with the basics of woodcarving. Listen to the sound of music and enjoy traditional folklore performances featuring singing, yodelling, alphorn playing and flag waving. Jet boating, Hiking, biking, bathing, rowing, just a few minutes walk away. Nearby Interlaken offers a wide variety of experiences for the young and not so young. For those in search of adventure or challenging exercise, there are many activities to choose from. Hang Gliding, Rafting, Canyoning, Bungy jumping, Paragliding, Sky Diving, Ice skating, Snow Boarding, Skiing and Sledging just to name a few… Concerts ranging from open-air rock gigs to classical and traditional festivals. For a more leisurely pace, take a stroll along the lake or indulge in a spot of shopping. Our favourite shops are The Mad Cow (my shop) and The Funky Chocolate Club both on the Jungfraustrasse Interlaken. Whether your looking for sighseeing or a more laid back walk around the lake, this is a great location t
