Boca Tapada is a charming community located in the canton of San Carlos, in the province of Alajuela, Costa Rica. Known for its cheerful and hospitable people, it offers visitors an authentic experience of rural Costa Rican life. The region is surrounded by the Maquenque National Wildlife Refuge, which stretches from the Sarapiqui River in the south to the Nicaraguan border in the north. This vast protected area is a paradise for nature lovers, offering rainforests and impressive biodiversity. Visitors can enjoy boat tours on the San Carlos River, which runs through the community and allows navigation on approximately 60 km of its course. The road is already paved but there are still some potholes, although it is recommended to drive with caution. The region has a warm and humid climate all year round. Light clothing, insect repellent and sun protection are recommended. Nearby places of interest: - San Carlos River: This river is ideal for activities such as rafting and kayaking. Its waters allow navigation and offer panoramic views of the surrounding Arenal Volcano. - Poas Volcano National Park: A few hours drive from Boca Tapada, this park is home to one of the largest craters in the world and an impressive biodiversity.
