Sodade Eco Camp opens in September 2026 as a family-founded Cabo Verdean project, born from a passion for the islands and a commitment to sustainable, community-rooted tourism. Our small local team lives and works in Chã das Caldeiras and knows the volcano intimately — from secret viewpoints to the best vineyards. We built Sodade to share the magic of sleeping inside the crater while supporting the local community and preserving the extraordinary landscape that surrounds us. Sleep inside a living volcano's crater. Sodade Eco Camp is a collection of four luxury geodesic domes set on the slopes of Chã das Caldeiras, inside the caldera of Fogo — the only inhabited caldera in the Atlantic where you can spend the night. Each 50 m² dome frames Pico do Fogo through its panoramic window: watch the volcano from your king bed, warm up by your wood-burning fireplace, and step outside to some of the darkest, starriest skies in the Atlantic. 100% solar-powered, with private bathrooms, daily breakfast included (packed to go for summit hikes), hot tub, and airport transfers. Chã das Caldeiras is one of the most extraordinary places in the Atlantic: a village of winemakers living inside a volcanic caldera at 1,700 m, at the foot of Pico do Fogo (2,829 m), Cabo Verde's highest peak and one of the Atlantic's most active volcanoes. Hike to the summit at sunrise, walk the 2014 lava fields that reshaped the village, taste the unique volcanic wines at local cellars, ride horseback across the black sands, and stargaze under skies untouched by light pollution. The community here is small, resilient and famously welcoming — expect to be greeted by name by day two.
