Located between Wangen and Lindau, our guest house is the ideal starting point for skiers, hikers, cyclists and culture lovers. The Allgäu and Vorarlberg Alps, Lake Constance, various adventure parks and other attractions for the whole family can be reached in a very short time. The "Balthasar" was named after the first documented owner of the estate in 1678, Balthasar Berlinger. In addition to his farm, he ran a "street economy" with brandy. It was not until 1900 that the "Traube" inn, today's "Balthasar", was built by Josef Berlinger and his wife Bertha. In 1912, the Berlinger family received permission to accommodate foreigners, since the terminus of the Ravensburg - Roggenzell automobile line was near their inn. Around 1950 the house became a children's convalescent home. In 1954 the former stables of the farm burned down. Until 2012, the "Traube" was used as a school hostel. The building has been owned by the Mennel, Knill and Stebel families since autumn 2020. After a long renovation work, the "Balthasar" can finally be used for guests in 2022. The six studio apartments are bright and tastefully furnished. They can accommodate two to three people with shower, toilet, WiFi, satellite TV and cooking facilities. For conferences or other events, our house offers beautiful Premises, catering and a cooking school. There is a wood exhibition in the annex.
