Welcome to this lovingly rennovated holiday home with panoramic views of Isefjord and Orø. Here you have the chance to soak up spectacular sunsets over the water year-round, or starry skies in a wide open landscape free from light pollution. Two kayaks and four bikes (life vests, helmets and locks included) are available and free to use for all guests. The location is ideal for nature and wildlife enthusiasts, with everything from sea eagles to red squirrels regularly visiting the garden. While culture and food enthusiasts are a short drive away from the beautiful and bustling Roskilde, Lejre and of course Copenhagen. Inside you'll find a tastefully decorated, well-stocked home with space to cook together in the kitchen, and relax with drinks in front of the wood-burning fireplace. From the living, dining room, kitchen and bedrooms you benefit from water views. The house is amply heated with two brand new air pumps, radiators in every room and a fireplace. The kitchen has most utensils/equipment you'll need and we can likely arrange for any additional items you might like to have. We lovingly prepare all the linen and bathroom towels using eco-friendly and allergy-sensitive products. The house comes with ample pillows, duvets and blankets (washed regularly and chosen for their comfort and softness). You'll arrive with all the beds made and complimentary tea, coffee, cooking oils etc. alongside shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and toilet roll. Internet is fast and included in the price alongside all utility fees. Outside is a large beautiful garden with a old vegetable patch filled with strawberries, an orchard with 13 different trees (plums, figs, cherries, apples, pears), a fireplace, and a well-kept lawn for ball games, a beautiful mature cherry tree with stunning blossom and autumn foliage. The raised area in the garden provides a wide, long view where the waters of Isefjord and Hesselø Bugt meet. There is free parking for 3 cars right outside the house.

We are a Danish and British couple who met while delivering aid with the Red Cross after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Since moving to Denmark we have enjoyed many years visiting this summerhouse that Palle built with his father. We have tried to restore nature here and create a get away for our young family where anyone can feel comfortable and at peace. We have shared many special moments here and we hope you will also experience the peace and joy that this place brings. Renting the summerhouse has been a real pleasure so far because we've met lovely people along the way and delighted in helping them have a happy holiday. The local area offers many activities, from scenic walks along Isefjord such as Ejby Ådal, a short drive away, to the Viking burial mounds that stand proudly in the fields only a few minutes walk from the cottage. The cycle route 30 runs along the fjord path that can be seen from the garden. Forest walks in Somerskøv where sea eagles nest, and deer roam, or open skies of field walks down to the harbour at Hammer Bakke, are all easy roundtrips from your front door. You can drive to the beautiful Ryegaard Dyrehave, visit the historic Cathedral-town of Roskilde, the viking settlements in Lejre's Land of Legends or take a swim in the harbour at Gershøj or the wide child-friendly beach of Valby Strand. Visit Selsø Castle or take a culinary trip with a ferry to Orø. Local delicacies can be enjoyed at Butik & Cafe Dejlighed, Eudaimonia Kaffe & Keramik, Svanholm Gods, Gershøj Krø, or the community-run local shop, Høkkeren. You could even try your hand at fishing off Munkholm Bridge, as seen on the Tour de France route when the competition came to Denmark.
