El Conventu del Asturcón is a traditional Asturian country house with the highest official rural classification: three trisqueles. Built in the 19th century and carefully restored in 2011, it sits in a sheltered valley in Parres, between the Cantabrian coast and the Picos de Europa, fifteen kilometres from the national park. Seven rooms across three floors, each with a private bathroom and TV. On the ground floor, La Mina is adapted for reduced mobility. On the second floor, La Corte is the largest room, with a super king bed, spa bath, mini fridge, and garden and mountain views; La Choza and El Mar also have garden and mountain views. On the third floor, there are three attic rooms with skylights providing natural light from above: El Hórreo with a spa bath, El Llagar which sleeps three, and El Molino. Common areas include a living room with fireplace, a glazed patio where breakfast is served each morning, an outdoor kitchen with wood-fired grill and oven, a seasonal pool with lounge chairs, and gardens with outdoor lighting and seating. El Conventu is in the heart of eastern Asturias, between the mountains and the coast, 7 kilometres from the picturesque towns of Cangas de Onís and Arriondas, reached by a narrow winding road with stunning views. The Picos de Europa National Park is 15 kilometres away. The Covadonga sanctuary is approximately 30 minutes by car, and the Lagos de Covadonga approximately 55 minutes. The Sunday market in Cangas, running for more than 200 years, brings local producers together every week. The town's medieval bridge over the Sella river, one of the most iconic images in Asturias, is a short drive away. Ribadesella is 20 kilometres away: a coastal town with beaches, the Tito Bustillo cave (a UNESCO World Heritage site with Palaeolithic paintings over 14,000 years old), dinosaur footprints on the shoreline, and the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Guía, a 16th-century chapel perched atop a clifftop promontory with sweeping views of the town, the sea, and the mountains. The Camino del Norte passes through. The Asturian coast is under 30 minutes from the property. The Sierra del Sueve rises 15 kilometres away, where wild Asturcón ponies still graze on the higher ground. The food in this part of Asturias is exceptional. Sidrerías pour traditional cider the old way, the local cheese and charcuterie are among the best in Spain, and multiple restaurants in the area have earned Michelin stars. Activities include hiking in the Picos (Ruta del Cares, Lagos de Covadonga circuit), canoeing the Sella river from Arriondas, via ferrata and climbing in the Picos, paragliding from Arriondas, salmon and trout fishing on the Sella river, and horse riding in the valley.
