Finca la Piedra Holidays is a small olive grove with two wooden cabañas (bungalows) available for self catering holidays. They both have free WiFi available. They are approximately 100m from our main house. There is a small pool opposite our house which is available for guests from May to the end of September. The property is on Monte Hacho which is the mountain next to the town of Álora. It is tranquil and most suitable for people who love nature. It is only 3km to the town and possible to walk in half an hour. The property is only 30 minutes from el Caminito del Rey (el Kiosko). There are lots of walking routes from the property. It is possible to organise paragliding from the top of el Hacho, weather permitting and well in advance. Monte Hacho is suitable terrain for mountain bike riding. It is good for bird watching, there are Golden Eagles and other birds of prey nesting on el Hacho. Lots of wild flowers in Spring including some Orchids can be seen. It is also perfect for horse riding.
Most of my life I have owned a horse and starting off young horses is still my passion. I like all animals and living in the countryside is where I prefer to be. I still start off and train young horses and mine are all bitless and barefoot (no metal shoes) and kept as naturally as possible. I have chickens, free range, for eggs. I also make special cakes and ice them. I am also an accomplished skier and enjoy a trip to Sierra Nevada which is only 2.5 hours away by car. A lot of my life I have worked in offices but before coming here 14 years ago I owned a bar with some rooms and did most of the catering myself. I enjoy meeting people from different countries and having this type of business makes it a good opportunity.
From the cabañas it is possible to get to el Torcals in approximately 1 hours by car and 1.5 hours to Rhonda, although there is a daily train from Álora station. Malaga is only 45 minutes by car or 35 minutes by train. The train will also take you along the coast from Malaga as far as Fuengirola, stopping a many places where there are beaches. It is only 2.5 hours from Sierra Nevada if you want to take a day to go skiing in the winter. Cordoba and Sevilla are approximately 2 hours away by car.
