We are passionate about sustainable tourism, generate all our own electricity, harvest rainwater and have installed many energy & water saving devices throughout. We aim to be as energy efficient as possible without compromising on comfort & all of the rooms have central heating with traditional style double glazed timber windows enabling us to welcome guests all year round.

We moved here in the summer of 2016 after spending the last 20 years running a garden design company in London. We specialised in designing and building Mediterranean, drought tolerant gardens for clients around the South East of England and it was always our dream to create a true Mediterranean garden here in Spain. We stayed in many different parts of Andalusia before finally deciding to settle here in Yunquera. The spectacular mountain environment combined with the style of the house and the opportunities to create a special place to live and welcome visitors whilst creating our Mediterranean garden convinced us that this was the perfect location for our new adventure. The opening of the Casa Rural is the first stage in our project, however we have lots of exciting plans for the business. We are situated a short drive from the villages of Yunquera and El Burgo. Both have a good selection of independent shops where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, meat and most other essential items. The quality and value of the local ingredients is excellent including fantastic local goat’s cheese which is made in the village. In addition each village also has a small but very well stocked supermarket. Yunquera is a traditional white village where you can escape the pressures of modern life and experience rural Spain where a very relaxed pace of life still exists. The area is very famous for it’s chestnuts and honey – apparently the King of Spain prefers honey from Yunquera! In October each year Yunqeranos celebrate the” Feria del vino y la Castana” Within an hours drive of the house there are many places of interest to visit, with access to Seville and Cordoba within a couple of hours. We are located 30 minutes from the historic town of Ronda with the famous El Tajo gorge, which is well worth visiting. As a complete contrast you could walk the famous recently restored Caminito Del Rey with it’s dramatic vertiginous walkway suspended above the gorge.
