I enjoy the tranquility of country life and hope to create an atmosphere of ease and calm. I love to walk, paint, garden and practice yoga.I l enjoy greeting guests when they arrive, however I then leave them to enjoy themselves without interruption. Welcome to La Alcantarilla, named after an ancient Arabic water course that snakes its way around the two hectare smallholding. A converted Spanish farmhouse that has served the rolling smallholding for centuries, it has for centuries been a productive plot for all types of vegetables, as well as a fruit orchard with dozens of mature walnut trees, cherries, peaches, plums and the sweet, distinctive ‘pero de Ronda’ apples, only found in this valley. Bought in 2004, after a year of hard labour the house became habitable for the first time in decades. Preserving all of its original features - from the pan tile roofs to the metal grills on the doors. Painstakingly restored, using local tradesmen, it has been modernised with air conditioning and heating units as well as a central heating system for winter, a log-burning stove and a slick plumbing system, which allows solar-heated water to be used almost entirely from May to October. There tap water is filtered so that it is both safe and delicious to drink. The garden we planted over the years has matured, and with all the climbing roses, jasmine and wisteria there are countless places to sit, eat and dream.

The historic city of Ronda is only 7 kilometres away, with its famous gorge, bull ring,and moorish baths it is a beautiful city to visit. There are some excellent restaurants, notably Tragata, Almocobar, Bardal and El Zucio. Spectacular walks in the surrounding mountain ranges bring you to hidden caves, picnic spots or local restaurants. Vineyard visits, tours of the white villages, horse riding and bike rides are also particularly good ways to enjoy the stunning landscape.
