The Maine Charles mansion was a vicarage of the eighteenth century, transformed into a castle in the nineteenth. Today it is a bed&breakfast for groups, families or individuals, which is open all year.

The Maine Charles offers the tranquility and charm of its protected environment, fields and woods. The bed&breakfast offers: 4 guest rooms, all equipped with a toilet corner (sink and bidet) and a shower room, kitchen, dining room, living room, private parking, central heating ecological (wood boiler, wood of property), large room of 110 m² and hangar open for meetings and events, WIFI, free bike activities, table tennis, nature walks and dinner bio-vegetarian on request.

The Maine Charles overlooks the small village of Birac. It is 3 km from the nearest town, Chateauneuf, built near the Paleolithic site Angeac-Charente where they found dinosaur fossils of European interest, and 15 km from Angouleme, southwest balcony , home of the comics (the International Comics Festival is held every year, the last week of January). Birac is also located 20 km from Cognac and its cellars, 90 km from Bordeaux and 100 km from Royan on the Atlantic.
