Peter and I have been living in Mere since 2002 and welcoming guests into our home since 2004. Castleton House is a bit of a tardis, in that it's much larger on the inside than it appears from the exterior. We have two bedrooms on the first floor, the en-suite twin with a bath, shower, loo and basin and the double room with a small en-suite shower room with loo and basin. On the second floor there is a second double room with an en-suite shower. Breakfasts are served in the ground floor dining room and the first floor drawing room is available for guests use. There is free parking outside the front door and off street parking at the rear of the property

We've been married for a long time!!! and have two grown up sons. Gail runs the B&B and can give lots of information on what to see and do in the area. During the summer I'm busy on my allotment (this also provides fruit for our homemade jams) and often out and about on my bicycle. In the winter when things are quieter we like to travel, go racing, catch up with friends and enjoy the cinema, theatre and reading.

We're in the centre of the small town of Mere, just off the A303 and half way between London and Cornwall. The National Trust Gardens at Stourhead are 3 miles away and we're a 20 minute drive from Longleat House and Safari Park. The cities of Bath, Salisbury and Wells are all within a 45 minute drive and the smaller towns of Shaftesbury, Sherborne and Warminster are local to us. Wincanton racecourse is close by. There are local pubs and restaurants within walking distance from the front door and a small supermarket too.
