Welcome to the Arbigland Estate. Our aim is to give you the best possibly holiday that will be fondly remembered and that you will want to return to again and again. Arthur's Cottage is one of 8 holiday cottages set on the 1000 acre estate. It is semi detached (Powillimount Cottage is the other side). The two cottages can be rented together enabling large family gatherings of up to 12 people. The combined cottages are set on their own with stunning views in every direction - the Solway Firth with the Lake District mountains in front of the cottage and to the back lovely mountainess views of Criffel. The cottage is recently renovated and very comfortable, light and spacious with a large living area and 3 en suite bedrooms, a utility room and a small conservatory. There is an enclosed garden for you to enjoy a BBQ and sundowner. Arbigland Estate is an area of outstanding natural beauty, unspoilt and rural set along the coast line of the Solway Firth. Brilliant bird life, lovely beaches, wondrous walks, good golf courses, marvellous mountain biking, gorgeous gardens, lots to see and do for all ages and interests!

A 5 minute walk from Powillimount Beach is this lovely, recently renovated seaside holiday home that is very comfortable, light and spacious and can sleep up to 10 people. Set on the Arbigland Estate in an area of outstanding natural beauty the house is set on it's own in a secluded rural location with amazing views in every direction - the Solway Firth with the mountains of the Lake District to the front, and fields and hills behind. It has 5 bedrooms (3 en suite), 5 bathrooms, a kitchen/dining room with a woodburning stove, a separate sitting room with large comfortable sofas, a small conservatory and a utility room. There is a large enclosed garden for a BBQ and a sundowner. This is the perfect base for a 'get away from it all' escape and to explore all that this beautiful area has to offer. There are lovely walks (all of our cottages are dog friendly), lots of birdlife as it's situated between two nationally renowned bird sancturies (WWT Caerlaverock and RSPB Mersehead), a championship golf course 3 miles away (Southerness), mountain biking (near 3 of the 7 Stanes), charming coastal villages (Sandyhills, Rockcliffe, Kippford) to explore and lovely towns to wander round (Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright).

The cottage lies at the southern end of the Arbigland Estate surrounded by fields. The estate lies at the foot of Criffel on a peninsula jutting out into the Solway Firth, and is a mixture of woodland, wetland, dairy pasture and barley fields. The area is popular with walkers, birdwatchers and golfers. The sandy beaches are ideal for children with rock pools and fossils. Southerness golf course regularly hosts championships and is a classic links course. There are a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants and tourist attractions within a short drive. Lovely gardens (Threave, Garden of Cosmic Speculation, Arbigland), good towns with independent shops (Castle Douglas, Kircudbright), a great pub a 10 minute drive or an hours walk along the beach - The Steamboat Inn in Carsethorn. There really is something to suit everyone, lots to see and do or just put and enjoy the peace and quite and magical setting Beachcombers.
